Well I just spent over 2 hours of my time watching this clunker. This is not the story of Bonnie and Clyde but rather the story of the 2 men who tracked them down.
In fact we all know how the story ends and if you want to watch a better film on the two I suggest the movie Bonnie and Clyde.
Executive Producer- Kevin Costner. That should tell you something
I’m a Kevin Costner and Woody Harrelson fan but IMO this was their worst movie
Slow moving and way too long.
I’d say wait until it gets to Netflix but it is on Netflix.

I finally watched this movie and I have to say I loved it. Beautifully shot and wonderfully acted, it told a version of the Bonny and Clyde epic I was not aware of. I especially found the depiction of Great Depression era America quite interesting.
Wish I could agree about the movie. I agree about the cinematography. I thought it was long and draggy in parts
We usually agree on movies. I just thought it was too long I did think that showing the story through different eyes was good. In fact Bonnie and Clyde werent seen until the inevitable end

I agree with your feedback. I think you have to be in a "mood" to sink in and watch a long thoughtful movie. One of my favorite movies is There Will Be Blood but many of my friends found it boring.

I gave up half way. I like woody H and while I don't like Kevin Costner as an actor I like a lot untouchables, no way out and bull Durham
I watched The Highwaymen about a week ago or so. I enjoyed it because it made me search furthermore about Bonnie and Clyde's avengers.
Very very interesting, what triggered it all. ...And also on how distorted some stories were.
Bonnie didn't smoke cigars; the police wanted the public to believe that by retouching some photographs they developed themselves.
They were very short Bonnie and Clyde, and just kids, but no respect for life.
We don't know much about Bonnie, because the police wanted to portrait her badly to justify the way she died in the public opinion. Capture wasn't an option.
Anyway I enjoyed it from another perspective. The acting was fine, the story telling got me in, and the locales I liked. If I would rate it ... 3.5 stars (70 out of 100).

I liked it because it didn't depict them as likable figures - like the Beatty/Dunaway 1969 movie.
This was more true to life.
I read a lot about them growing up, including the fact that Bonnie almost died in that fiery car crash where she was badly burned.

One of her legs was burn to the bone in some spots; she could hardly walk.
That big automatic caliber gun Clyde was using...deadly beast back then.
There is no glory in these kids, in jail Clyde was made a serial cop killer, with extreme prejudice...vengeance. He lead his gang towards that aftermath. He reminds me a little of Charles Manson.
We only see their faces very briefly before they got pounded...riddled of bullets...130 shots.
Just kids, but very dangerous kids, cop killers.
The two main characters in that film are super interesting in real life, their true experience.
In the film they played cards @ one time, and a story emerged. Fifty-four people died in that story.
The more you read about them the more you realize that there was not much alternative for Bonnie and Clyde and the gang. Their killing spree lasted roughly two years, and they mainly robbed 7-Eleven stores for five bucks.
If a film makes me search for new elements it has already won part of the battle; it was worth it for those further discoveries. I sure would recommend it to anyone.

Well there were people crying in the streets when they brought their bodies back to put on display. True the feds saw them as to who they really were but the feds had to change their appearances in photos and stories to try to doctor stories in order to demonize them
I thought the movie was dull and boring save for the costuming, sets and cinematography. The movie was just too long. It didn't make me look up anything else. I would bet that if it were a movie made for the Silver Screen it would have opened to a reasonable box-office only to have it crash and burn and likely close soon after it opened as the word filters out from people who saw the movie

I look at threads in the movie reviews subforum and listen to people’s thoughts and opinions as to what they liked or disliked about a movie. After a while I get to know what a member likes and if he recommends a movie I will almost always see it based on that recommendation. I hope you see where I’m going because the side stories in a thread of this nature such as the capture of Clyde Barrow’s brother in Des Moines Iowa imo serves no purpose as to whether I am going to watch the movie.its interesting but I think you get my drift

You are right. Forgive my enthusiasm going beyond the duties.
I agree that the film was slow going; but I was fine with it as it was about character's development, smaller details integral to the film's essence. In my honest opinion the film was a bit underrated. I liked its slow construction.
