This is sad day for WBF!

I have been on many boards over the years, and never once have I seen a Super-Moderator stepping down (well I did, but he was forced out). Our very own Tim just resigned and it saddens me. If I were Tim I would have thrown in the towel a long time ago, because there is little to no respect for digital of any kind on WBF. Sure there is discussion, but it always come back to anolog being superior. It gets old to honest, and this is from a fan of analogue. I can understand Tim's frustration.

Rant over!

Well, I would like to take the time to thank him for his contributions to the forum during the short time I have had the chance to know him. I have enjoyed our conversations together since I have joined and personally, I wish him the best. Sometimes, just stepping away from things helps soothe the soul.

Enjoy the music, Tim.

I don’t think that the statement that digital doesn’t get any respect on this forum is true. If I didn’t respect digital, I wouldn’t have bothered to spend any money on it which is more than I can say for those who have forsaken any format that isn’t digital. I’m keenly interested in digital because of the promise that it holds. I’m just not prepared to put all of my eggs in the digital basket and declare victory. There is more work that needs to be done before that day arrives for me.

In the meantime, I’m on my second digital ‘server’ that Gary designed and I think it’s damn good. I personally just don’t think that digital has dusted the best of what analog has to offer (or to put that in perspective, the best of analog that I can afford). My ears are wide open in the meantime, which is more than I can say of some others on this forum who have long declared digital perfect.

I don't know why he left. When he first came on the forum (before he was a moderator) I used to get annoyed by him. But his articulate writing style and humor won me over. But intolerance/lack of respect is displayed on more than digital versus analog: it is digital versus analog; subjective versus objective; and science versus magic.

There is nothing wrong with belief on either side of any of those issues. What is wrong, is the way those differences are sometimes communicated.

I had a boss once who said the following:
"You know you said it wrong if you can complete your sentence, 'comma a$$hole'."
That attitude is expressed more than it should be on this forum and I have been guilty of it as well!!

Just my observation.

My understanding is he's not going away, just wants to be free to express his opinions without having to worry if it impairs his ability to moderate, or presents WBF in a bad light because of his personal stance vs. moderator status. I really hope that is the case!

True, digital gets no respect, neither does analog. Or subjectivity. Or objectivity. Or... :D

I didn't go anywhere. I just needed to put a couple of people on ignore for my own peace of mind and you can't do that from a moderator's chair, so I resigned as a mod. I'm still here as a member.

What I think a number of members on this forum would do well to remember is what I almost always end my posts with:.....IMHO......remember guys the post has to be "In your humble opinion" ( the key words being humble and opinion)-- just IMHO:)
