Wbf best system under $30k

Perhaps you can 'enlighten' us as to the particular SF model you heard. BTW, looking at the cone material on SF's is not going to really tell you how they sound. Unless you believe that a silk dome sounds "soft"!! FYI, there are any number of ways to make just about any type of speaker sound "laid back"....change the front end gear feeding it and you can do this with little problem.

I didn't even ask, because I didn't really care. I wasn't there to buy them. There was actually 2 different sets. A small monitor, and a tower that looks a lot like these. And yes the cone material does matter when it comes to how something will sound. If you had a clue about drivers you would know this. You're obviously arguing for the sake of argument. I can't even compliment something without being attacked.

A clue about drivers?? LOL, please...I suppose you are a speaker designer as well as a DAC designer and a server designer and what's next... a turntable designer. Oh, I forgot, you dislike analog sooo much ( particularly since you have heard all of the best analog ) that it is beneath you.

When you post all encompassing statements like the one above about the cone material, it simply tells me that you really are not using your ears, but simply just postulating. I can also tell by your response that you have never heard the higher end SF speakers, but that did not stop you from postulating and posting that all SF's sound...."laid back".
I'm done here, discussing with you the sound of gear that you have obviously never heard is not productive.

I am not sure how every thread ends up being about Blizzard. Calling someone stupid is childish even if you have George Carlin do It for you. I think member come here because we don't know it all.
My grandfather sad it best. "You don't have an opinion on everything. "

I complimented the Sonus Faber speaker, Davey corrected me, and then I realized I was stupid. Who said I was calling anyone stupid besides myself? I'm obviously on the lower half of the average.

I can appreciate a good backpedal.
Insinuating some one is an idiot is childish. Yeah I know he started it.

raidho d1 + devialet

I have heard the raidho c 1.1 + 200... exceptional pairing , a little bass limited but SAM cures that.
Isnt the D1 around the $30k mark by its lonesome?

Hi

Completely, irrevocably OT

Given the number of people with great Audio who frequent this forum, the paucity of replies to this interesting thread is to me troubling. I'll leave it at that.

To Blizz

I personally value your contribution to the Forum and believe you have a lot to bring to others. You find however a strange way to irk every single person on most threads and believe me, that includes people who frankly value your contributions. It needs to stop. You need to stop.

Speakers for my $30K system would be the Devore O96 or the O93s depending on what I decide for equipment later on. They will give me the high efficiency I will need for the equipment I most likely will pair with them and they have enough oomph to play the music i like.

He has heard many SFs over the years, many TTs over the years, and many high quality preamps...just don't ask him to name any.

This reminds of a thread, where he was once extolling the virtues of the hypex ncore - he had compared his hypex amps to "world class contenders". When pressed to mention the system, he said, martin logans. When further pressed on martin logans, it was Martin Logan Ascents with "just a cheap H/K receiver". And " His friend has a pair of monolith III's driven with a pair of Mcintosh MC1000's. I'm going to take them there one day and compare as well." So he had not heard even those yet - so no real world class contenders

My two choices of speakers. One I heard. One I have not. My choice is based on my knowlege of the line and a review of the late great Harry Pearson.
I am not sure one is in production.
Soundlab Dynastat II $7,200
NOLA KO $10,000
Maybe I am just getting old. I want to nominate the Linkwitz Orion(2?). I am just not sure what amplification it requires.

Mike Lavigne could you repeat your under thirty grand system here.

Greg,

The Dynastats are no longer but they have the Millennium series that would fit and only take half your budget. :)

For speakers go for Acoustats...they are awesome...the 2 + 2 are available used for around 1k.

I suspected they were discontinued. It is unfortunate they never took off. An audio buddy replaced his ML CLS with the Dynastat. At the same time he sold his SOTA tt and replaced it with an Accuphase CD player. I purchased his CLS.
I was quite impressed. It changed my opinion of digital.
