Wbf best system under $30k

The idea was that you were supposed to have heard them. I haven't heard either of those models. I have heard their smaller speakers and do like them for certain things but ultimately there's others out there that better float my boat.

I'm a little surprised there isn't more support for Magnepan, either the 3.7R or even the 20.7.

I'm not comprehending your reasoning for this?

The CD is all but dead. There really is no reason not to stuff it all in one box. Have you seen that thing from PS Audio. Heck it even has a Phono section all for $499.95.

Ah....I get the reasoning now. I'm a fan of IA's...always have been.

The PS Audio Sprout designed by Scott McGowan and funded by Kiclkstarter. (More on that later. ). Go to you tube and look at the avs video.

Makes me want to resurrect my old Rebel Red TT, buy some bookshelf speakers and set it up in my bedroom.

Just think about it. Digital, vinyl and smartphone compatibility. It will not be long before some one makes a tube version. Get some wall insert speakers and a sub that can double as furniture. Perfect for the non-audiophile music lover or someone with limited living space.

You could pair the Maggie 3.7 with the Bryston 7bSST mono blocks at $5100. Then pair that with an excellent Dac/Pre. The Bryston has excellent bass. With it you will notice the .Maggie's go deeper than you think

The GT audio ribbon majority magnetostat hybrids from New Jersey are excellent, with external adjustable crossovers to adjust to the room, much better than Maggie imo, (haven't heard 20.7)

Greg Takesh will also work with you to customise it

My build is meant for playing CDs.

I like getting up to swap discs. In the past I had a streamer and it's just not as enjoyable of an experience for me.

Interesting. I never got into the streaming business and instead still listen to the physical CD as well.

I'm with you guys. I'll take physical media each and every time. :D

As long as you are up you might as well be changing vinyl. You can't put a penny on a laser to stop it from skipping.

No because sometimes I like to zone out to the music and you can't leave vinyl alone. It doesn't flip itself either.

You must be young. We zoned out a lot in the 1960s.

And you don't have to. To each his own, I suppose. I haven't done anything with discs for years, except to immediately copy them to my hard drive. Wouldn't have it any other way.

Tim it was a little pricey for me. I recall my dealer took my cd inserted it in something called a Meridian Soloos and handed it back to me. A little picture of the artist appeared and the music started to play. Later it dawned on me he had just made himself a free copy of my cd.
Any way there is nothing as annoying as a damaged silver disc. I believe I siggested both options above.

roon, tidal and my 8000 cd collection are all "in the ether" and along with a touch tablet is a virtual smoragsbord of music, I feel liberated in getting rid of the physical media... very happy unless my wireless network or the internet goes down ...

I do understand the attraction of Physical media.. well .. not really :) at least I intellectually am able to rationalize it :b. But people! if it is truly music you are after please give Roon a try, Please. You will re-discover you music collection in a way Human memory simply cannot help you to. For the Vinyl Lover there is no alternative that I know like Roon. You have to rely on your own recollection and knowledge of the music in your collection, perforce limited however encyclopedic your music knowledge could have been. For those with Digital stuff aka as format agnostic people ... Rip the darn CD less complicated that some have made it seem, and move forward to the liberation, exhilaration of the new millennium, more music, much, much more music. If you have to Tidal, it is a game changer to the extent of entirely stopping buying music ... And some have access to Tidal and Qobuz... I have Tidal in the USA but when in Haiti I only have Spotify Premium which is sometimes (most often truthfully) 320 Kb/s and at the risk of losing my hard-won audiophile creds, it can sound quite good .. At any rate Roon is the Bomb!

Back to the regular scheduled system for 30 K:

Frantz - that's why I got into streaming in the first place, and never went down the analog route. It let's you discover music. I have no desire to touch physical media.

However, the pull towards vinyl is because of "sound", not because of the desire to touch - and the resistance is because of the inconvenience and physicality.

Which goes back to my point on how big an audiophile one is. If one just wants to play music, a major hifi system is not required and streaming can be done...but then the geekier one gets in terms of audiophilia, the person will want to play around with what he has, including with computer audio as well...Computer Audiophile forum is full of people who have made digital more complex than vinyl. There is a reason some prefer to build their streamer, while others prefer to just buy an Auralic aries or such. Hence my previous distinction between music lovers and audiophiles. There is a distinction between just enjoying music (Spotify type streaming), wanting good sound (analog), and tweaking whatever set up you have for the sake of tweaking. And then there is a whole range on that spectrum. There is no right or wrong on that spectrum. However, what I do see on the forum unfortunately is people who are not content with where on the spectrum they lie, and claim to be on one point of the spectrum while they are actually on another, leading to dissonance.

Btw, the Linn Akubarik exakt is an excellent system, all put together, with only one power cable and 2 ethernet cables, to stream with good quality sound that fits into this forum's budget.
