Wbf best system under $30k

Although I've heard them only at shows, and only with LP's, I have never heard a Cessaro horn system sound in any way "good". JMO of course.

I bet they would but I can never play my own test tracks... even though I've seen them a few times at shows their sound is still somewhat of a mystery to me because of the way they demo them.

"great" is in the ear of the beholder :) ...
I have heard the Duo sound good, never great. I have heard better horns, the Acapella comes to mind but they're very expensive .. I have great things about the Gedleee horns. I would still like to audition these. The largest model is $12K the pair.. Geddes and the JBL have many design points in common among these Constant Directivity.
Back to your $30K System ;)

The Geddes are more like the JBLs currently being discussed, but the JBLs probably use better drivers.

Tim you continue to try to rebut my arguments agents with vatiations of the phrase, just his opinion. Thankfully to no avail.

...because you continue to state opinions, unsupported by facts, as facts. That nonsense needs rebutting.

I think following some of these builds with "use whatever's left for cables" isn't the best approach here as it underestimates the cost of cables that won't be a big bottleneck.

Agree with this. I generally take a 10% (max 15%) approach for cables, so in this context that's 3G's.

Why just use pro audio cables they are completely fit for purpose .
Keith.

Like Blue Jean Cables? Because they don't sound as good. It would be a shame to have such a nice system with so low of detail.

Tim I would prefer to ignore your posts.Just don't mention my name.

Not a big cable believer Folsom, I am afraid. Cables are quite easy to find on the used market at great discount so I do suggest to the person to start with the least expensive cable that works and move up from there. Being an audiophile for some means constantly playing with and adjusting things. I don't nor do I believe in using cable for tone controls. For that there are real "tone Controls" aka EQ. All that IMHO, YMMV, etc..

The problem with starting with the least expensive cables is you'll choose components, maybe even speakers, that are complimentary to the cables flavor. If you start with neutral cables then your component choices will probably be better, i.e. more neutral as you're not compensating for a warm or bright cable, resulting in a better system. So, I agree you want cables that do as close to nothing as possible but this takes a decent cable. Good cables and clean AC power are the backbone of a system and make it possible to assemble a better system and evaluate components more realistically.

Also, used cables may be cheap but MSRP is a often a fairy tale anyways... better to know a bit about cables and select the most neutral cable you can afford.

I could wellbe but I would not automaticallty assume so. The drivers used by Geddes are B&C from Italy., pretty good. We may dismiss them since they are "Pro" drivers but B&C has been making these drivers since 1946! They know a thing or two about compression drivers.

USed to be a big cable believer.. No longer. On top of that a cable doesn't need t be expensive to be neutral. I would keep the price of the cables very low. YMMV but I don;t find it reasonable to spend more than 2 K on cables in a 30K system based on an integrated and digital. In my book Belden and Mogami are it as for Power conditioning I am a believer and to me there is nothing better than producing my own clean, stable AC and for that nothing audiophile can touch a carrier-grade Double conversion UPS. I mention they can be had for much less than $1K for a 3 KVA UPS.

e-bay is your friend. This is for a new model .. Click here Used could be half that ...

I know exactly what driver the Geddes speakers use and own a pair myself. The JBL drivers are on another level. I'm not just hypothesizing or talking out my a$$hole. ;)

Cables are completely transparent, unless you choose to make them otherwise.
just buy something fit for purpose.
Keith.

Best to go with Dave's silver/gold Neotech blend and tweak to subjective taste with DSP. You can always add warmth in the digital domain, but you can't add transparency if it's hardware limited.

Jeff had the two way Chopin and the four way Liszt at his place, difficult to assess a loudspeaker at a show, and Cessaro have been paired with amps which IMHO didn't help their cause.
Keith.
Perhaps true, but if you can't demonstrate good speaker sound at multiple shows I for one lose interest.
