Wbf best system under $30k

I think following some of these builds with "use whatever's left for cables" isn't the best approach here as it underestimates the cost of cables that won't be a big bottleneck.

Well I left $7K for cables in mine. Personally I would get a loom at about $2.5K from someone and spend the rest on media or dinner but others may differ so I left the headroom.

This is an attempt at humour ,right?
Keith.

No I'm serious. It's well known that silver is a better conductor than copper. And the PCOCC refining process make a measurably better conducting metal.

And the very slight difference in conductivity affects the sound how exactly?
Keith

Give it a try. If no difference is heard then perfect. Go out and buy a bulk roll of AC extension cord to use in your system. It will save you a pile of money, as well as your clients.

Try comparing cables ,unsighted, always revealing.
Keith.

Do you sell you clients bulk AC extension cord for speaker cables? Only 20 cents a foot or so. If you used anything better, you would be misleading your clients then wouldn't you be?

I believe Peter Walker used lawn mower cable ,he was a real engineer.
Keith

Why not. There's other areas that should be focused on first before cables that's for sure. But they do sound different from each other. Compare the DHlabs Q10 to the Neotech 3004. It's like having different speakers.

Does it measure better at the output of the device?

They certainly can sound different if you choose to alter the electrical parameters enough, but why would you want to?
Keith.

At the end of the cable it should. You can use a simple multimeter to get a measured difference between a silver and copper cable.

Depends on what you're going for. When I built my last speakers, I had set the drivers up in a different cabinet at first to play around with the crossover until my new cabinets were ready. I got them sounding quite stunning in these cabinets using 100% Neotech 3004 cable. Once I built my new cabinets (which had the same front baffle dimensions) I ended up using the DH labs cable going to the tweeters, and the Neotech 3004 to the midwoofers. The highs sounded awful and I couldn't figure out what was wrong. Finally I realized I was using a different cable for the tweeter. So I swapped the cable between the midwoofers and tweeters. Now the highs were perfect again, but the mids were harsh. So I ended up using the Neotech for everything and they sound awesome. And it wasn't expectation bias at all. Because I had completely forgotten what I changed when I got the new setup going and it didn't sound right. I wanted it to not be true, because I spent a pile of money on a bunch of the DH Labs cable. But with different drivers in a different system, some people would maybe prefer the DH labs, who knows. Anyways not all cable sounds the same.

Silver is good for phono. If you don't like phono...

Google says yes. My chemistry tracher says no. Silver is silver. However the products sold have different percentage silver content.
IME some silver cables are copper with an outer layer of silver.

This is wondering off-topic, which I don't personally care for... but I'll point out that if different casting processes of copper sound different then I only suspect it would be different for silver. My personal experience with silver is that it can sound wonderful. However it's a gamble to assume it will for your specific use, and best by trial and error because I've heard bad results too. Not the cheapest way to play.

This would not be a best thread without a Wilson Audio speaker. I'll nominate the Sophia @ approx. $18k. 12 grand left for a tube integrated amp and some sort of digital device.
