Interesting Bachtoven...how does it compare with any of the other Beethoven Piano Concertos you have heard...Murray Perhaia? Richter? Kovacevich? Those are the 3 we have.
I briefly compared the 3rd to Richter/Muti--I prefer Zimerman's--it's more dramatic overall. Better sound, too. Then Perahia/Haitink--still prefer Zimerman for the same reasons!
Thanks, Bachtoven! Listening to it now! Just arrived! Brilliant indeed. And yes, the sound is fantastic.

No.2-15 today. He's a wonderful pianist, but the audio perspective is a bit distant for my taste.

I have Glenn Gould, Trevor Pinnock...and Keith Jarrett! I like Glenn Gould a lot.

BTW, I see that you have both the 800S and the LCD-XC...how do they compare? I have the excellent HD650, and am very seriously contemplating the 800S having [nearly] agreed to go for an EAR Yoshino HP4 headphone amp which apparently is a brilliant companion to the HD800S.

What else might you have compared the 800S to by any chance? I have read up on the Focal Utopia, ZMF Verite (Open and Closed), Empyrean...all of which are MUCH more expensive, and it appears the 800S holds its own in this competition...especially when given the price differential.

Thanks for any advice!

The Sennheisers are a bit more transparent and certainly more comfortable, but the Audezes block out external sounds much better, so when my wife does the laundry, the neighbors have their yards mowed/blowed, I use the Audezes. I only compared the Sennheisers to some upper end Grados--the latter was too colored for me. (I forgot the model, but they had aluminum earcups.)

With 15K records and 95% classical, I arrange most of the records by label and catalogue number. When I go up to my record collection, it is almost like they are in random order of composer and piece, but it also allows me to find a particular record if I want it. Catalogue number is arranged by age, however. Larry
