What are you currently listening to (Classical)?

Another quintet. Premiere recording of works for organ and string quartet! Don't read so far into the below you believe it detracted from how enjoyable a listen it was. Recording quality and balance of instruments is high.

Not everything comes together seamlessly here for anyone on either side the microphone wire. Gut strings and classical bows provide a few challenges to the experience of musicians attached. Also throughout the organist suffers a slightly small acoustic which allows a few seconds notice of mechanical and foot pedaling noises.

Maybe it’s approaching age but I’m enjoying Roger Norrington’s quicker tempi in the Brahm’s Symphonies a lot… maybe it’s just reassuring to know I may still be around when the Symphony finishes. Lively is good in this.

There is a lovely song like quality that comes through and brings a shade of light and an invigoration of life in them. A Brahms for spring perhaps. Worth listening to for sure.
These are very good - I agree

Re-release of two LP issued in 1970 as part of the 50th Anniversary of Das Alte Werk - two discs with total playing time of 96:34.

Imperfections will not suit those occasioned to finding impeccable inauthentic recordings of current century a success on all counts. Clarino trumpet playing remains challenging today.

Qobuz is releasing a few tracks at a time. I enjoyed 3 Etudes and Scherzo No.3 this morning. Amazing playing, as always.
