Box sets are currently a source of research. Arts institutions keep threatening a pillaging of their archives to reinvigorate interest in some long forgotten performers and their portfolios.

I see the Mullova/Beatson Beethoven showed up as well.

We had Jon play the Rachmaninoff PC2 at our home in May of 2019. His long time accompanist played the piano reduction of orchestral score. Jon is a great pianist. I believe that the Gershwin is his most popular recordings, and one of the best selling classical albums of the last couple of decades. Jon is a Steinway artist, but played our Boesendorfer 225. Larry

Does this set including the recording that Grumiaux did of a Mozart and Brahms Violin-Piano Sonata where he played both the violin and piano parts (I'm sure not at the same time!)? He was a really fine pianist. His frequent collaborator, pianist Clara Haskil could also play the violin (though not as well as Grumiaux played the piano, and sometimes they switched instruments (though not for recordings). WBF never ceases to amaze. Thank you for sharing this private concert. It's the rare person who can pull together a world class pianist and second instrument for his accompanist in their home.

Jon's Wölfl is another album I enjoy greatly.

This was an early Decca digital recording, done in May, 1981 and released in 1982 under Decca SXDL7547. James Malinson was the producer and James (Jimmy) Lock was the engineer. At the same session, they also recorded the Stravinsky Rite of Spring which was released on another record. In those days Decca was recording the Chicago Symphony (the same team did the Berlioz Damnation of Faust the previous week in Chicago), the Cleveland Orchestra and the Montreal Symphony. MHS licensed some of the Decca recordings and repressed them. Not sure whether MHS used the Decca digital tapes, since Decca invented its own digital recorder, based on a JVC video recorder. It has a higher resolution (16-48) than the standard 16-44 resolution of most digital recorders of the day.

MHS focused 99% their efforts on represses, budget discs notable for their poor quality and sound. (I do have a handful the other 1%, LP of performances they personally recorded and issued.) So before posting I pulled out and compared the Copland with another full silver center Decca. Currently awaiting the original CD album to confirm suspicions they are identical in sound and construction.
