What turntables do you use? Pictures would be nice as well :-)

Probably can tune the sound to your liking by adding some whiskey, brandy, vodka etc. to the mix
Of course:D
At first glance it looks like a Rube Goldberg machine but there are so many smart solutions on it that i've never seen on any other turntable. He's patented a few things. Show me another tonearm that has no bearing friction at all. You can buy it for ~ 100k €

Anything that floats will have some draft, however small. And, of course, on the level of micro forces, surface tension is in play too.
If he claims it has no forces equivalent to bearing friction in a conventional tone arm, I’d like to see his analysis.

you have identified the problem, congrats. the air draft in the room is why acrylic glass shields are used to protect the tonearm. everything that has no friction can be moved easily. I'm not an expert, write to him, he can explain it in detail. 20240414_212843.jpg

P.S in newer pictures it is hermetically sealed against air draft.

My platter is about 150 pounds and it floats on air for very low friction and high inertia. It will free spin from 33.33 rpm for half an hour before coming to a stop. And yet it cannot be moved easily at start up and it is not easy to stop it.

It is not air draft I mentioned. Draft is the distance into water that an item sinks (the amount below the waterline). The item must plow through that water if it is to move. There is also drag force of the liquid passing the sides.

Tiefgang auf Deutsch.

German ..nice:)
you mean the water displacement that Arcimedes discovered and calculated. The buoyancy that a body experiences is exactly as great as the weight of the liquid it has displaced. I hope you can see what the good Mr Baasner has done about this problem when the record player goes into production

I have a second turntable after a long period of one table and multiple arms. This new one is Technics SL-1000 Mk2.

I should have cleaned hand marks before taking pictures but other than that it looks and performs very good. I’m planning to use it for transferring 7” records to digital and for some fiddling. Unfortunately EPA -100 cannot handle heavier cartridges than 10g with standard rear weight. It will be a challenge to install 11g Kondo IO-M. If it doesn’t work l can always mount Kondo cabled SME V using spare arm board.

Nice , I have the same near mint example in storage atm , the SH-103B plinth is really not as bad as some folks tend to make out imho .

Boring to most here. I recently moved back into vinyl with my Block Audio Line amp and a 14yr old mint ClearAudo Performance SE TT.

Sounds great, a fun option to my digital source.

Gentlemen, my TT rig consists of a Luxman PD-310 with outboard vacuum unit and liquid silicone filled platter. Arm is a Magnepan Carbon Uni-track with Supex SDX-1000 or Sumiko Talisman both MC to a dedicated for the TT Stax CAY preamp fitted with a MC card or optional Supex SDT-772 transformer. Bought this rig new back in the late 1980's I believe has had very little use and recently had a service and the caps replaced to sort out the speed drift problem apparently common with age. One day I will start to use it again but my ROON digital rig gets all my attention of late especially with my new Aqua Formula XHD V2 dac has all the Analogue qualities without the faf.

My travels always lead me to discover new and unexpected things.

This was also the case here, when I was invited to a listening session by an AS Community member.
His Micro Seiki RX 1500, incidentallyone of my absolute vintage favorites, had a brass platter that was visibly different in color from my RX 1500 G. The G stands for GunMetal at Micro Seiki.

_DSC4079_2.jpgThe owner had carried out a consistentupgrade in several steps.

I'll just let him tell you about it.

"- The motor unit was decoupled from the actual driveframe
and placed on a solid aluminum block.

The originalfeet have been replaced by height-adjustable bronze feet, similar tothe RX 5000, as the original feet tend to tilt when heavy tonearmsare used, which leads to a skewed position.

For even smootherrunning, the aluminum platter was replaced with the brass platterfrom
Micro Seiki NL for even smoother running. This has a perfectfit.
As a final measure, I replaced the rubber belt with ½ Zoplltape
and had a new, perfectly fitting motor pulley turned.

The tonearm is a REED 3P with a Lyra Dorian hanging from it. Another arm is already in the cupboard.

_DSC4148_3.jpgAs my system was planned forgrowth, my AS Phonolab phono stage from Audiospecials only needed to be upgraded to "Quadriga". This means two AS Phonolabs for 4 tonearms, which are supplied with power via two outputs on the power supply unit.

I like MC systems, but now I wanted to try out an MM system. That means the 4 x AS phono inputs with phonomodule configuration MC/MC/ - MC/MM-SUT.

The Lyra Dorian is areal hammer which I have connected to the AS Phonolab with 180 Ohm.It delivers full blackness in the bass, transparency and silky highs. This is exactly my sound ideal and suits the Dorian perfectly.

I've had quite a few phono stages here over the years, right up to the very upper price ranges beyond 10KEUR.

In the end, it was the Audiospecials AS Phonolab. Their-Testcase- gave me the opportunity to test it at home in direct comparison with my existing, really very good phonostage.. There was nothing more to think about.

Inparticularly the -Recompizer-, a clever function that can raise some suboptimal recordings back to hi-fi level.
What this German manufacturer has achieved is quite extraordinary. My entire set-up was then placed on a custom-made metal base.

Aslong as this process was, I would always do it the same way again.-"

Regards
groovemaster
