What turntables do you use? Pictures would be nice as well :-)

Nottingham Spacedeck, AceSpace tonearm (wired with VDH MCS150), Zyx Bloom cartridge

Sweet!

Luv air bearing arms and loved this table when first saw it in London over a decade ago. Just don't want to deal with the issue of air pumps NO MORE! If you've got a home great but sucks to hear the noise in an apt.

Actually had tried to get it for review back then from Branko in the UK (it wasn't being distributed in the US at that time) but it fell through :(

the pump is horrid, and after speaking with SIL in the US (the maker of the pump), i was told that the pump is really too small for the use- that it requires constant duty cycles which is why you are hearing it kick on and kick off. Mine is located in an adjacent utility closet but it's not really far enough away. Scott Markwell offers an upgraded pump, more like a garage sized compressor. If I keep the arm after I move, I will upgrade to a monster compressor and stash it in the outhouse.

That's one alternative. Another is to get a compressed air tank if you feel comfortable with chaining it down say in the garage. Then no issue with flow rates :)

SME 30 with 10 inch Da Vinci tone arm (original style, nautical brass). Perfect turntable for those who don't like to mess with turntables.

Damn there are some nice tables floating around WBF! As there should be too!

Really? Mine still has the rubber bands from the original owner, over five year later after I bought it. I haven't had to replace any. I just adjust the columns once a year (or two). Does your friend know how to adjust the columns? Maybe tropical climate is hard on the rubber?

O rings from the hardware store would work if you want to do a new set, you use the SME tool to adjust the spacing of the columns, which when they have the right space and bounce, are ready to go. There is a spacer tool, the rubber bands are like circus tents that hold the pistons in the legs in suspension. Just test by making sure there is some give to the pillars, it is pretty easy.

Otherwise, drop of oil once a year, change the belt every two years or so.

Nice table Carl. When i hear the word "o" ring I can't help but think of Morton Thiokol. Myles, clever idea on compressed air tanks. I could have the hospital supply place drop them off- I wonder what the conversion rate of litre per minute to psi is for life of gas per tank.

Not sure about conversion rate.

This is my recently upgraded front end: SME 30/12, SME V-12, Air Tight Supreme. It replaced my former SME 10A with V arm and PC-1 cartridge. It is all sitting on a Vibraplane preloaded with a steel plate ballast weighing 136 lbs, for a total weight of 400 lbs on the top shelf of my DIY rack. Isolation and resolution are superb. This is a very neutral and speed accurate platform for the cartridge.
I did a very slow, deliberate comparison first between the SME 10 and 30/12 using my old SME V arm and PC-1 cartridge. Then I switched arms to the V-12 with the PC-1. Finally, I switched cartridges to the Supreme. I listened to each stage for about 10 days to fully understand what each component contributes to the overall sound.

* Hi Peter, and Welcome!

What's interesting is many companies that dissed the 12 inch arm now manufacture them :) I wish I could fit a 12 inch arm to my table but my next table must!

What differences did you hear between then standard SME and 12 inch?

And welcome aboard!
