I love the Sibelius also. I am long ago smitten by Hilary Hahn. There is an interesting video on YouTube of her playing that piece solo to a small audience. I believe in Paris. Just before she does the evenings concert with the orchestra
This is a Michell Orbe SE with a Gert Pedersen (pedersensgyro.dk) upgrade kit installed and a Eminent Tecnology ET 2.0 arm. On a wall mount and Gingko Cloud 11.
I have a Rega P10 with Apheta 3. I’m quite happy with it. There seems to be some Rega hate in this thread and I’m not experienced enough with anything higher end than the P10 to know better, but I love my P10 for the fact that I don’t have to futz about with alignment, I love the looks and the fact that it matches my aesthetic, and I have zero issues with it. (ps I don’t actually use the turntable weight with it, it was for my previous turntable and I thought it just looked nice for the photo)
I love mine. Next move is Naia if I got enough money to get one. May be I try an Umami red. Some said Red fits Rega TT better than Aphelion2. Some said the opposite. They both have Boron catilevers.
On the left is a Basis 2800 with Vector 4 Tone Arm. Accompanied by the microthin belt, vacuum clamping, and Synchrowave power supply with Hana Umami Red bringing it home. On the right a 45 year old fully automatic Elac Miracord for playing my collection of 78's or poor quality albums. Cartridge is a Shure M7xE.
The Sibelius Violin concerto is one of my fave pieces, and I always preferred the Ferras (Karajan) version....(have that on mono too) ...this is WAY ahead of that performance!
Heifetz was my introduction to the Sibelius VC -- he is a/the master here and in many other performances. It is from his that I was led to discover other magical recordings of this work. Oistrakh with Ormandy and Rozhdestvensky, Ricci, Accardo. I keep coming back to this one:
Ida Haendel with Berglund and the Bournemouth
EMI ASD 3199
I'll do a proper comparison when the Neveu record appears, so far my top 3 ;-) is
1; Wicks
2; Ferras
2; Oistrakh
3: Heifetz
The comparison is skewed because I do not have all on mono vinyl...and digitized older recordings are typically murdered in AD conversion (that is why I wanted mono vinyl in the first place).
The difference between Oistrakh and Ferras to me is small, the Oistrakh recording is better, Ferras 'Gypsy' intonation works more for me than Oistrakh's more distant approach, all very personal IMHO...
the emotion in Wicks performance and the atmosphere is Scandinavia is captured so well on that record...the clarity of the vinyl is exceptional...easily the best record in my humble collection.
edit: the difference between all on Quobuz streaming is FAR smaller than from mono vinyl, streaming it all sounds dull in comparison to especially the Wicks (Capitol likely a 2nd release -it's the B side, not even the Metronome version).
I never imagined saying that analog is more dynamic than digital
I have a commonwealth idler and a Kronos Sparta with RS kronoscope tonearm. Have to downsize room and sell the Kronos - asking $15k for table and arm. The arm alone retails for $15k.
Have this one on watch as a potential 10” er to partner a Murasakino Sumile Stereo and Sumile mono … that said I am hypothesising that A.N timber body cartridge might find a singular pleasing synergy with the ceramic Korf ?!?!
on my Melco I can unscrew the armtower with arm on and mount another preadjusted tower incl arm and cart
when I ordered this custom plinth, I had made 6 armtowers......

In about a week and a half will bring 40 years of ownership of my LP12.
I went from an CD early adopter to selling all my CD's a few months after hearing/buying my LP12 in March 1985.
The LP12 single handedly fueled my desire to spend all my meagre pay checks on vinyl by going to the city every Thursday night after work.. I remember visiting Phantom, Red Eye, Waterfront, Zoom, Metropolis, Chelsea's, Virgin, HMV, The Strand, Utopia to name a few.
7000 albums and 40 years later, here we are.
The LP12, Cirkus, Lingo, Naim ARO and Dynavector XV-1S still sounds superb.
