What's best in highly sensitive/efficient speakers.

I would slightly disagree about the supremacy of Trios, all depends on setup, the presentation of Trios at AG HQ we had before I ordered Duo Mezzo XD was disappointing , the best I have heard was at Munich 2014 with Vitus Masterclass and Fonica cables , but it was no XD series.

Cessaro requires very carefull setup and tuning , the presentations at shows do not unveil their real potential I believe.
Unis could be just optimal , but I am worried about their bass performance and the lack of DSP, important in my big living room with a lot of glass.

I also liked once Acapellas with Einstein , but the company is very small and produce only on orders.
I have in my classical collection almost all of your test recordings mentioned in your Zero Distortion blog, you know , you are always welcome :)

I would think the Duo Mezzo XD has a bass that is somewhere in-between a closed box and a horn because at least the upper end of the bass is horn loaded (do you know how low that short horn is actually loading the bass?).

As to Cessaro, I am still waiting to hear a convincing demo...god knows the ingredients look good but at least at shows they seem off. I still think the Wagner could sound awesome in a smaller room where it can generate a reasonable amount of bass...I think this because I have built my own Wagner of sorts at home, which uses the same Supravox driver (215-2000) in a similiarly loaded backhorn type (TQWT to be exact) cabinet and a compression horn on top. I am using a digital xover design for the moment though that might change.

Acapella has intrigued me more than once and I was close to pulling the trigger on the Acapella La Campanella, which does not have the ion tweeter, due to it's more room friendly size and simpler design, which seemed better integrated to my ears. That said, I have heard a really great demo as well with the Cecilia High model and older Violon. I have heard bad demos too but this was more down to electronics and source choices I think.

The Tune Anima and the Universum both require quite a bit of space. That is why I have stuck primarily with two-way horn loaded type speakers. Even a Duo XD would be too large I think.

No idea about the crossover frequency between so called "short basshorn" in Duo Mezzo XD and two 12 inches woofers in the box.
But sounding different ( better ) than regular Duo XD. Also because of cabinet material and construction ( solid wood in Duo Mezzo XD ) and mid horn supports ( stiffer in Duo Mezzo XD).

I am also now going away from all these and will get someone to build me a horn.
Can you elaborate a little more on this?

Bonzo; wait till you´ve cruised DIY Norway...

You guys seem to have a lot of time and space to do ambitious projects...It would never fly in my current residence beyond the modest setup I am working with now.

I guess we´re determined and at the same time not very impressed by the commercial alternatives
also some local capacities on both horn theory and practical building, so we´re ok up here in the dark....
also most Norwegians own their own homes and some are pretty decent size as well
and the money are not spent on bling, cables etc
that´s not where the battles are won

One step forwards for horns... one giant step backwards for architecture ;)

this was built for an outdoor festival down in southern Norway and ripples were observed in a small lake a few miles down the valley when they passed 135db below 30Hz

I have heard the Liszt with and without DSP, and have heard the Chopin in home and Wagner at a dealer shop with a nice room and electronics. You can visit the polish dealer to listen to Wagner and devore orangutan in the same room

You should try some DSP on the Tone Scouts...might transform that diamond in the rough!
Too little time and too many other very good Speakers that work wonderfully as they are :D

Let’s make a deal - I will go to Warsaw to listen to Wagner when you will make the audition of Duo Mezzo XD;)
Deal?

No no. You to check Wagner and the Devore. Inn the same room.

Ok, no deal then;)

Lol. When Keith finished with his demo here in London, I did contact the dealer. The speaker is too heavy for them to move back and forth, so I need to coordinate it when they have already put it up for someone, rather than asking them to put in for my visit only.
