Listening CD for tomorrow's concert: Karneval/Dvorak, Night on Bald Mountain/Mussorgsky, Peer Gynt/Grieg, Enigma Variations/Elgar. Should be a fun show, especially if I manage to play the right notes; last night's dress rehearsal proved why Friday night rehearsals after a very long week are a bad idea, especially when helping with setup cost all my warmup time!

Why, thank you Lee. That is soon to be in an audio library near me. :)

Currently listening to Dire Straights, Alchemy but I did enjoy a classical....well, more of a big band album on Friday night. It was the 40th Anniversary edition of Sheffield Labs "Still Harry after all These Years" with Harry James and his big band, live. I have had the album for years and i could kick myself for not spinning it earlier. I actually listened to it two times, back to back. Good stuff.

I'm not really a big Classical fan but that doesn't stop me from purchasing classical selections now. I'm sure that as I grow older, I'll be listening to more and more as time goes by and I'd rather pay reasonable prices now, then insane prices by the time I really start to appreciate classical and yearn for more. Thanks again for the suggestion, Lee.

-----But which medium is best from Living Stereo - RCA Victor; the LP, or SACD? ;)

That depends on who you ask I suppose!;)

I don't have the ability to play SACD (only Hybrid SACD), but I'm starting to slowly put together a small collection. I think I'll put the Reiner on my wishlist for my next amazon order. :)

That exact album will be up next, John [SHM-SACD]. With only some minor gripes on the recording of that album, it's great to sit back and enjoy.

---In October's (2012) Stereophile issue, Steve Guttenberg has an interesting short article right at the beginning (As We See It), entitled Accuracy Is Not the Answer

It's 'bout the LPs versus the Compact Discs (& SACDs & DVD-Audios too).

The last sentence of that short article read: "Analog may be far from perfect, but it still seems to convey more of that hard-to-define stuff that brings recorded music to life."

MFSL vinyl on order so that I can spin this concert correctly. My original 2 LP sets are completely worn to the bone.

---The saddest thing is that most young people who listen to MP3 from their iPods,
will never have the chance to explore Bill Evans Trio.

Why? Because they listen to RAP music, or Metal, or Punk, or Alternative Punk, or stuff that doesn't have heart & soul.
