What's Spinning Tonight?

Was surprised to see only two Alexandre Desplat in my library, knowing I had more. Turned out they were still in my bucket of "to rip" CDs! This delightful soundtrack to a move I don't know (Syriana) was one of them:

Prompted by the other thread on difference between CD and high-res, listened to this great Genesis album. Boy this is near reference quality!

"Bob Ludwig: Captain Beefheart's Shiny Beast (Bat Chain Puller) [CD, VAULTernative VR2012-1] is an acquired taste, but once I am immersed in it, I never want to hear anything else."

Well, I still want to listen to other things, but this one is pretty far out there.

Oscar Peterson

Good Easy going Album ... Hymn to Freedom is however on a whole different level.. This album is a good introduction to the genius of Oscar Peterson.. Pieces are easy to the ear and the playing is good as per Oscar's usual. However he went full tilt on Hymn to Freedom .. His whole soul, his life is in the performance.. Goosebumps galore... Sublime! Recomended!

+1. I find Mr.Peterson to genuinely involve himself in every recording. He's not just playing to put something out on wax....

Then .. I absolutely love this rendition of Salt Song by Stanley Turrentine. Actually love the entire Album.... They may have overdone the echo on Stanley's sax but .... I don't mind much :)
