Maybe it was me Stephan, as I bought and played this quite heavily a few weeks back… Such a wonderful album! I hope you enjoyed it. Happy New Year 2025 ;) !

This was the first player back then, when I thought that digital had finally caught up with analogue playback. That feeling has been confirmed again today... I love this machine.20241231_123951.jpg

the good old days (deutsche mark) I buy the remastered CDs before 2000 I think. The CD transport gives you an analogue feeling when you have to lift the acrylic glass lid to put in a new CD. With SSC feet underneath and a good silver AES/EBU cable that feeds the metronome DAC, it sounds extremely good. I have a lot of fun with it

From the Sony SCD-1 right now☝:

Pink Floyd - Delicate Sound Of Thunder, from 1988.

This double live album of two CD’s, recorded in August 1988 is to ”ME”… -if I count the musical performances and the flow of each song + the powerful sound of Gilmour’s voice, the absolute best P-F album of all times (YMMV). Homever, the overall recording is rather thin in the bass region and needs a B I G boost of the subwoofer system to really come alive. Once the boost is integrated and the volyme control is cranked up to RED LIGHTS WARNING - it’s like having a live Pink FLOYD concert in the audioroom ☝:D !!!

And the lp both great
I have the original LP from 1988 (plastic sleeve)…
I have the reisse from - 2017…
And I have the 3 LP box from 2020…

Guess which one sounds best..???
I will not strech your minds too far… so I better tell you - The original, on thin ordinary 140g vinyl is by far the best sounding album of the three☝!! The other two doesn’t even come close.

The reissue is very metallic/edgy/sharp sounding, and the three album box has a very strange overall sound to it, compared to the original. Although some songs sounds okay and the box contains a few more songs than on the original LP album, it is on third place in my DSOT collection, due to the fact I find the sound from the double live CD album to be the absolute best, believe it or not.

I only have the 2 CD Set from 1988.
I've not played this in about 8 years so now that I have a new CDP I'll do a re-evaluation of this CD Set...
I'll post a mini review of this recording after I've listened to it. :)

Up next:
Pink Floyd ~ The Delicate Sound Of Thunder(1988), 2 CD Set/Stereo
Think you will need these for an extra push…!!
Do you want me to ship them over..???

Hmm I doubt that - I better go and find out ☝!!
Have to take that back, as I don’t longer have the final cut in my collection due to I didn’t like it at all. Thought I still had it, but remember now, that it went away together with a lot of old worthless albums I had from way back. I took this decision to make room for more delicate albums compared to what I previously had owned.

The Final Cut did not match the new collection…

I will stream it though and see if I did a mistake to give the vinyl away..

Lol..
Well I'm looking to buy another house, maybe a castle even...wait & see.
Actually apartment life isn't so bad and it much cheaper than a house for sure. Taxes are terrible..

My digital & analog setups are optimized for medium sized rooms and are more of a intimate encounter rather than a all out assault on the senses such as a live concert.

McIntosh has a newer version of their MC3500 from the late 60's early 70's, MC3500 MKII, that I've thought about building a new studio reference system using one of the new Nagra studio R2R machines and either passive ATC 50's or Klipsch Jubilees.

All of these ideas in my head right now...;)

Individual songs are not important on the LP, you have to get involved and listen to it as a coherent story. For example, postwar dream..rogers voice is soo good.I think that was his idea for the LP. My opinion and not everyone has the same taste and that's a good thing, it would be boring, Johan.
