What's Spinning Tonight?

Re: Pink Floyd "Delicate Sound Of Thunder".

Okay so I'm into the first few tracks of the first half of this CD.

My impression with this recording is that it was likely recorded similar to a symphony with carefully placed mics.

Attention to detail here for sure. Overall the recording is well done for the technology of the time & is fairly even handed with regards to sonics. Efforts were taken to preserve the sonic details but also from a film perspective as I suspect that this was made into a vid so all of the visuals could attempt to capture the emotion of the event.

From a listening perspective I speculate that this recording was made from the listener seated in a mid section balcony row centered on the stage. This would allow for all of the sonics and visual details to be observed.
This far back would effect the bass response as already noted.

A sub may be a good option for those listening on the 10th row from the stage... ;)

Just my opinions. :)

Pink Floyd - The Final Cut, from 1983.

My thoughts - njaaee  ..!!

I put it the way David Gilmour said in 1983: ””-The Final Cut , was very good but it's not personally how I would see a Pink Floyd record going"”.

Anyway - I got myself through the album, and for that I’m proud. Thanks Stephan for reminding me, or else it would never have happened.

Continue on the Sony SCD-1☝:

Roger Waters - RADIO K.A.O.S. , from 1987 on CD.

This according to me is an amazing album both songwise and soundwise and is prior to the super ”Amused To Death” album that was first released in September 1992.

From another perspective, this album has a very special place in my heart, due to it was given to me in the early 2000’s by my late childhood friend, that passed on to the heavens in 2017, RIP Henric.

Deep purple tape The Mule drum solo is just something you dont hear good on digital .
I d love to hear it on Wadax as well
I have the original LP from the 1970's. I purchased a remastered CD version around 2007 but the CD was corrupted half way through the last track on the CD and skipped terribly. Exchanged the CD the next day and the same thing happened with a brand new CD. Wound up getting a refund again and buying a totally different CD that day.

Streaming the final album for 2024☝:

Mindwave - Most Wanted (Mindwave), from 2013.

This is a very powerful and VERY good sounding progressive psy-trance album, which is best played back at my place in 7.4 simulated surround sound. Lots of energy, lots of things going on in every corner of my listening space. Deep powerful punchy bass, a full midrange and a timbre upper end… Hard to beat to be honest, and a very happy ending of 2024…

/ Jk signing out - Happy New Year 2025 everyone.
