What's Spinning Tonight?

The greatest rock and roll band to come out of California where I live. Paul McCartney paid homage to this album when he said The Beatles wouldn’t be the same group without this brilliant album. If you like The Sargeant Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band, this is the album that inspired the Beatles. It’s brilliant beyond imagination. In mono on vinyl.

I love this album. I think a lot of people like it because it's cool, but it really is as good as Paul says. But the greatest group to come out of Cali is either the Byrds or the Doors or Love. So, you're not way off.

First out this Sunday morning, playing on the SONY XA-20ES, which is used as a transport into my DAC☝:

Tracy Chapman - Crossroads, from 1989 on CD.

This is one of my absolute favorite album in my collection. I love Tracy, and her two first albums are really really special. Many songs of these two albums I have used many times when setting up stereo systems for friends, but also when ever I have made changes to my own system. Many songs have those special things I like to bring out. As these albums are so beautifully made - when these sound good, almost everything else sounds equally as good. In my opinion (YMMV) these albums are true reference tuning albums for setting up a big hifi system. Go Tracy ♥️!

Brian Francis Connolly. Another good Glasgow boy. Ian Gillan connection there, I think. Died at 51. FFS.

Yes that is correct, he replaced Ian Gillan in Wainwrights Gentlemen who along with Mick Tucker (Sweet drummer) went on to form the Sweet with Steve Priest (bass) and Frank Torpey (guitarist) who was replaced by Andy Scott which then became the classic Sweet line up, Brian sadly died mainly due to complications of being an alcoholic and prolific smoker, The Sweet (later shortened to just Sweet) were a seriously underrated band, but sales of nearly 60 million records showed they had wide spread acceptance...I have met all 4 original members and actually did a few shows with Brian when he opened for Pat Benetar back in the 80's...

After a calm day with just a few CD’s on repeat I think it’s time for raising the tempo☝:
