Zanden upgraded the 1200 Mk3 to 1200 Mk3 2020 version. On the outside there is almost nothing new to see. As a consequence of 15 equalization options, only selector has more options/positions and that’s it. In the inside there are a few important changes. The 2020 version has two additional circuit boards - for the 4th time constant and subsonic filter which is active permanently and cuts at 5Hz. When you compare the inside of the new and old unit, some other changes on circuit boards is also evident but the PS remained the same. Also the extensive use of Asahi Kasei PullShut EMI/RFI shielding foil is also evident.

The 1200 mk3 2020 (and Signature) has three 4th time constant options for all equalization curves. So, now you can choose between 15 settings (or even 30 if you wish to experiment with the phase) and adapt equalization to Neumann, Westrex and Ortofon cutting heads.

The new full-balanced 1200 Signature is more complicated.

The new full-balanced 1200 Signature is more complicated.

No doubt about that but since Mk3 remains in production, it is more interesting/appropriate to compare it to the old version...
