✨ The Power of Purity – ASR Audio at Sunny Components ✨
Music is an energy that flows, breathes, and awakens the soul. At Sunny Components, we have always sought out the most extraordinary audio components to bring music to life with unparalleled depth and emotion. Today, we take another bold step in sonic excellence—we are proud to announce that we are now carrying ASR Audio products, sourced through Matterhorn Distribution (www.matterdistro.com).
Power. Precision. Purity.
From the moment I introduced CH Precision into our offerings, I realized a fundamental truth—the heartbeat of any great amplifier is its power supply, housed in a dedicated chassis. The absolute control, the limitless headroom, the sheer musicality that emerges from properly isolated power cannot be understated. ASR Audio takes this philosophy to the extreme, designing all of their amplifiers with external power supplies to ensure absolute sonic purity.
A Symphony in Four Acts
The ASR Audio lineup is a meticulously crafted symphony of components, each playing its part in delivering an effortless, organic, and deeply immersive listening experience:
Emitter I (Basic) – A two-box masterpiece, blending a high-performance integrated preamplifier with volume control and an external power supply. A battery upgrade option elevates the system further into an oasis of dynamic range and control.
Emitter II (Basic) – A step beyond, offering even greater power and refinement, delivered through two dedicated power supplies for superior energy delivery and unwavering stability.
Emitter II Exclusive – The ultimate embodiment of ASR’s vision—four meticulously crafted enclosures: a dedicated audio unit, two power supplies, and a battery unit, ensuring that every note, every harmonic, every breath of the performance is delivered with absolute transparency.
Vinyl Lovers Rejoice
ASR’s dedication to sonic excellence extends beyond amplification, with two state-of-the-art phono stages, meticulously engineered for the most discerning analog aficionados. Expect unparalleled resolution, dynamics, and emotional depth from your cherished vinyl collection.

Hello Sunil,

Welcome to WBF!

Thank you for introducing ASR. I am not familiar with the brand.

What about the sonics of the ASR brand attracted you, and made you want to import the line?

I owned the four boxes Emitter II exclusive around fifteen years ago - great amplifiers. If I had not moved to tubes I could have probably kept them. But we can't keep all we like!

They are also on Jim Smith favorite list - perhaps at the top of it.

The manufacturer - Friedrich Schäfer - was an extremely kind person, his upgrade policies were extremely user friendly.

We had several threads on them in WBF https://www.google.com/search?as_q=...tsbestforum.com&as_occt=any&as_filetype=&tbs=

Rockport Lynx & ASR Emitter II Exclusive – A System Without Peer

Thank you, Ron. Today, I’m setting up the incredible ASR Emitter II Exclusive 4-box integrated amplifier with Rockport Technologies’ newest masterpiece—the Lynx.

The Rockport Lynx is a stunning loudspeaker designed to distill the ethereal musicality of the reference Lyra into a more compact, graceful, and proportionally elegant cabinet. Its performance is simply unmatched in its size class—music flows effortlessly, with astonishing dynamics, detail, and authority.

Paired with the ASR Emitter II Exclusive, this system takes full advantage of ASR’s legendary battery-powered design, which eliminates power line noise and delivers an organic, fluid, and slightly warm tonality. The result? A system that breathes life into recordings, offering a natural and emotionally engaging presentation.

To refine this setup even further, we’re using the newest Wadax Studio DAC, AudioQuest Firebird cables & power, and Harmonic Resolution Systems (HRS) audio stands to ensure absolute stability and purity in signal transfer.

This is a system built to deliver the soul of music, and we invite you to experience it firsthand.

Thank you for your comments. Friedrich is a very accomplished and passionate designer. He has been building electronics for 50 years and selling them actively for 45 years. One of the factors of bringing this product in USA is because its stable, musical and different in its presentation from all my other offerings. Its for customers who perhaps like tube lik sound but want the slam of Solid state. I was just not prepared the see the improvement that I experienced with a Battery power supply. A true legend of Audio.

ASR Emitter II is very special Integrated amplifier.
Three Huge power supply (4x700VA=2800VA) , two boxes for Power amp section and one box (battery power supply) for pre-amp section.

Very very simple/minimal circuit design, ASR Emitter has just only three stages.

The design of amplifier (like dartzeel) is un-balanced and there is an direct input RCA connector.

If you compare ASR Emitter II with other expensive SS amplifiers you will convince the ASR Emitter II price should be around $300k not $30k.

Respectfully, can you please lay off the ChatGPT posts? I want to hear what you have to say, but the obviously ChatGPT written context is a bit much.

I say this as someone who sees ChatGPT used at work all the time (to my chagrin) and have learned to spot its tell-tale signs.

Can you please share with us in your own words?

Thank you.

It's hard to put it in words till you experience the sound. It's very condusive to listening for a longer period of time. Effortless, fast and welcoming, Just this feeling one gets to keep adding tracks or this feeling that you get to add another album to your session. Of course everything depends on setup and what one wants to pull from it. It's musical. Very unique to hear piano sound so right. Vocals seem to bloom. My Emitter II is just breaking in. It keeps adding layers to the soundstage. It sounds more relaxed and dimensional after about 7 days of playing. For Vinyl lovers this is going to be an experience. More to come. My listening has only been on Rockport Atria II and Rockport Lynx. I have a couple of installs this weekend but more listening with Stenheim and Peak Consult coming soon. The Kid in me wants to take the day off and spin Vinyl all day.

Thank you for your comments. I have met a few owners that have owned theirs for decades. My Phono stage shipment will arrive in April. Looking forward to this experience at home.

I used the ASR with my G2 speakers back in the day. Solid build! Great support from owner, too.
my only gripe was too many boxes. Three in one room and one in the listening room.

I don’t think separating the power supply and output components in a power amplifier is a good idea. A solid-state power amplifier is primarily about the power supply and how quickly it can deliver high current. Separating the power supply and using long cables is not the smartest solution, in my opinion. Almost all solid-state amplifiers are designed to maintain fast power delivery, with some using massive solid bus bars for this purpose.

There is absolutely no way a separate battery with long cables can match the speed of an integrated design with bus bars. This is probably why ASR Emitter amplifiers always sound lean, slow, and uninvolving. I’m sorry, but ASR is simply a flawed design choice.

I think ASR is not lean, if you find match speaker then ASR will shine and shock you.
I think there is no flaw in ASR design.

Finally I just listen and listen and listen, there is no other way for proper judgment.

Good Class AB amplifiers like ASR Emitter II will shine if you find match speaker. Very few solidstate power amplifiers can give you deep/proper bass and Emitter II is one of them.

Use CEC TL0 transport + Weiss reference DAC + ASR Emitter II and see what happen to the bass.

This is fantastic. Quality that you enjoy comes from Friedrich's principles. Love your system. Superb treatments also.

I first learned of ASR about 2-3 (?) decades ago as it was one of Harry Pearson's proud "discoveries". I owned 2 versions of their phono stage which was excellent. Any questions about the unit or service related issues were always answered promptly by Friedrich himself via direct email. However, the product seems to have waned in popularity as it's hard to buy something if there are no large distributor or dealer networks that support the product. It also didn't help that Friedrich is not a "product of the month" sort of guy, and that's something that impatient audiophiles who are more into gear than music did not seem to relish. Publications also had a hard time touting something in perpetuity that has all the zeal of a 20 year old loudspeaker or amplifier. They have to offer something that's new in their "recommended components" list and hence the gear fell off the earth with comments such as "dropped from the list because we haven't listened to one in ages:" At least that's the way things appeared to me. Perhaps this thread will re-ignite interest in this excellent and fairly priced line of products. .

I think Audio is not a fair game. look at the market for example CEC TL0 3.0 and ASR Emitter II both are far better than most competitors even at much higher price but few audiophiles know about those good equipments

Good Afternoon Marty,

I couldn’t agree more—The Emitter 1 Basic starting at $10,995.00 including the audio unit and a robust power supply, is truly an incredible value. The level of customization available—dedicated subwoofer outputs, direct connections, WBT XLR and RCA options, and various other configurations—is remarkable.

It was great hearing from you, and I look forward to staying in touch.

Best regards,
Sunil Merchant.

In my experience the four box system is the one to own - no diminishing returns in ASR! ;) I think of it not as an integrated amplifier, but as separates in a different topology - the separate battery power supply feeds just the preampflier section. For some people the only issue with it will be just space - the very long, thick inflexible cables that connect the units can be a logistic problem. BTW, although the model exists since long, it has been upgraded several times along the years - it is not an "old model" in the strict sense. I could not locate it but I remember of a long list with the chronology and details of every upgrade.
