I'm just using an iPhone 13 Pro Max. I honestly don't know what I'm doing. This is all new to me and I'm just trying to wing it, so to speak. It's all in fun

Thank you, Peter! I don't know that I've ever had the pleasure of meeting you in person, but I do consider you and many forum members to be my friends, despite not ever been able to meet in the physical sense.
Many times, I will be sitting in my recliner with a big smile on my face, typing away on my laptop (just as I am doing right now) and my wife will notice and say...."are you talking with your audio pals?" and I'll say "yep!" It makes her so happy to see the joy it brings me being able to communicate with so many people around the world who share in the love of music.

This sound is because of the record and the system. It will show through both iPhone and Samsung, including iPhone 7, no special recording gear is required to understand that it is a very natural sounding system.

Phones vary in their ability to capture natural sound, your iPhone 7 is probably better than the iPhone 16, I'm sure you can hear that the iPhone 16 isn't very good in this comparison:
The fact that one sounds better or different from the other does not mean one is not the getting out the essence of what needs to be captured. This is not like a system or system component where we are trying to find the best sound, we are trying to find a good enough easy to use recorder that lets us get to what systems/components are worthy of consideration and which are hype

I think you are debating the point if one phone sounds better than the other.
I am making the point that if it sounds sh@t on one, it is sh@t. Also, if you do compares on both, you will reach the same conclusion on both, even if one phone sounds better to you than the other phone.
Why do you think audiophile channel is using an iPhone? Why is his phone moving about visually without any change to sound?
He told me he used iPhone 14 and I'm guessing zooming his camera doesn't affect the sound which it shouldn't.
So you think the 16 is good enough to capture the natutal sound of that analog system playback?
It sounds muddy/muffled to me and not engaging at all. It could be an mp3 playing, rather than vinyl.
I always try to make it clear that my system videos are recorded by my handheld iPhone. I show the needle drop and move to my seat. Some of the videos on the net are filmed with an iPhone and recorded with a better device. The audio is an overlaid on the video. It’s always easy to tell because the sound does not change when the iPhone visuals move all over the room.
I have recorded some videos zoomed out from the listening seat to show a wider perspective of my room which more accurately captures what I see with my eyes at the seat. This confused Hopkins. He thought that’s why my two videos sounded different from different listening positions, but it was really two different cartridges with very different presentations.

It’s not just zoom it is angles in his other videos.
The Cessaro in Munich usually sounds the way it does on the 16. Cessaro in Munich is quite disappointing. Just because something sounds better, does not mean it is representative. Maybe that one record was very good, if he had more videos we will know, check his other videos to see if obviously bad stuff from shows sounds great
He may have turned off 'stereo sound' in settings and is recording in mono which makes it less directional. It does sound good tho, waay more convincing than the 16 but since you attended the Cessaro room you would know what it actually sounded like.
I didn’t attend this year but each year I did it was bad, and audioquattr who owns the zeta was there and wasn’t impressed.
If it is because of mono, then maybe the impact is due to stereo vs mono and not the iPhone model.
Here is a recording of one of my most favorite modern day violinists, Julia Fischer playing Bach on vinyl. Again, just having fun playing various recordings on these old vintage Wharfedale speakers.
If I remember correctly, PeterA had once mentioned that he likes to record him dropping the needle so people know it's an actually recording from his phone and not an audio overlay.
For me, it's a little difficult for me to hold the iPhone in one hand whilst trying to drop my needle as my Naim ARO tonearm does not have a cueing lever. However, I did record me doing so in this video. I don't know know that I will continue to do that moving forward as it is risky business, to be sure.
