DCS Vivaldi

Big Congrats!

One of the first tweaks is a better bnc clock cable between the transport and dac.
My friends are using Backcat Digi75 or Nordost Vahalla2 happily.

;)
Many Thanks.

When it comes to cabling, I am mostly a Transparent guy. Ordered Transparent XL clock and Aes/ebu for connections.

IMHO you just picked the best sounding transport/DAC I have the pleasure to have listened to.

Many Thanks.

Looking to add a clock later on. Not yet fully sold on the idea of upsampler. We will see...

Very Nice numbers  altho *Someone* will be along shortly to Instruct you as to what you "should" have bought instead, Oh and that your Pre and Power are Gash!

I Look forward to your considerations once they have settled into your system.

Sure, will do...

Don't ever listen to those amps! Addictive!

Many Thanks.

In my experience, the Upsampler made a bigger difference than any other component other than the DAC itself. I bought the DAC and Upsampler first and then added the Clock later. I already had an Esoteric K-01 for a transport. The DAC + Upsampler was a much bigger difference than adding the clock in my system.

I got conflicting feedback regarding upsampler so far. One Vivaldi user that I very much respect said similar like you. However another person that I know is now selling his upsampler and said he doesn't care about it.

Interesting on the upsampler seller. Just curious, was he mostly a SACD/DSD type of person...if so, I could understand that.

That is right. He mostly listens to SACD.

Makes some sense then, although with the new tweeks coming for Upsampler 2.0, I suspect even SACD will sound better. There are a lot of computer audiophiles who love HQPLayer for the same reason as the Upsampler, both make PCM sound better in most cases. Since most of my collection is ripped CDs, it was very apparent. It also makes a difference on even high res PCM. It also allows direct access to your music stored on a NAS over Ethernet, which has some noise advantages over USB. I have to say, with the Upsampler, I have tried almost every popular USB jitter remover, reclocking device sold and none of them improve the sound for the Upsampler - it is that good out of the box. Give it a listen in your own system.

Thanks for the feedback. Perhaps I should bid for his upsampler:) he doesn't care about network connectivity or computer audio being honest, he just spins via transport unit.

Does the Esoteric K-01 transport AES/EBU signal also go through the upsampler?

Yes, I run the coax digital out from the K-01 (SPDIF) to the SPDIF input on the Upsampler. This enables me to use the Upsampler when playing CDs on the K-01. I upsample the 44.1 signal to 352.8, just like I do with rips of my CDs. However, the K-01 is blocked by Sony licensing limitations to send DSD on the SPDIF output. So when I play a SACD I use the analog XLR out directly to my preamp.

Interesting. I understood that the Upsampler also requires a hardware update.

I think my upsampler goes back next week for the update. Will post my thoughts when it returns...if it's anything like the DAC v2 upgrade...I'm itching to hear this

Just tried the Vivaldi 2.0 app and got nowhere. It downloaded and installed (thankfully didn't replace the Vivaldi HD app) but when I try to run it all I get is a black screen that says Devices at the top and a message that says No Devices Found after a few seconds of searching.

The Vivaldi Upsampler needs to have a hardware update before the software update.

I'm going to order a Synology NAS drive tomorrow. Set up Ethernet into my upsampler vs USB keys. This is part in prep for my UPS upgrade, also just ordered 2 Transparent Ethernet cables for NAS and router...
