Same modernised vintage style they based their sound on RCA theatre horns. I have never heard RCA horns and all OMA horns sound different so how exactly I cannot say, but that is what their objective was. I prefer the sound of OMA, general's pnoe, and the yamamura to old vintage, though on some music the western electric systems at Munich sound emotionally unbeatable. However they (The WE) can't play every LP, concerto, orchestra like the other three mentioned above can. All the three above, as well as a couple of bespokes, have some differences that are best heard. The OMA strength is that since the monarch is like a planar it disappears easily and plays easily, like a high sensitive, efficient planar. It sounds very compete.

The pnoe and Yamamura both which I heard with higher front ends (especially pnoe, best source and software) might be more preferred but in a different way. Luckily I don't have to decide and if anyone was buying I would suggest listening to all as all are different. Also, a guy with trios and 6 bass horns, Ypsilon phono and viva amps who listens a lot to opera preferred OMA's biggest speaker, which I did not like at all.

And anyone who gets one of them, should put Henk's grands at the other end of the room
I had also listened to some modern horns. But somehow vintage horns have something special in its sound.

But I have not had any horn speakers in my listening room.

I had used high efficiency full range driven by 300B Set amp.

I had been happily using Lansce 4.1 for 11 years which mate well with tube amp with high efficiency.

One affordable choice will be Line Magnetic LM3

LM-3 3-way speakers - LM302 - 22A - LM555W - BA-18

which is a replica of Western Electric and Jensen vintage drivers.

I am curious whether anyone here had listened to it.

If this is a combination of the 22a with the woofers, then both morricab and I have heard it (separately) at Acoustiplan in Germany. You can go listen if still has it. Another DIY guy in Berlin has the 22a (top part) with his own small bass driver. I don't like LM drivers they have no magic have tried in 22a in two systems and 16a in two systems. They are low price and good to start off with but people who have compared recommend Goto over LM for better sonics if you cannot afford WE/GIP.

I compared the Lansche 20k and the 65k euro in the same room to the devore orangutan and preferred the Devores. And yes different amps suited both so we did rotate amps to optimise.

I had been happy with Lansche 4.1 with pristine treble out of plasma tweeter for 11 years.

It could depend on personal taste.

But your advice on LM3 will help me lot.

I got tempted to buy one.

This year I bought LM508 SET 48W amp with good build quality.

After refitting with Nos tube like Sylvania 1944 SN7, Mullard ECC35, LM 508 sounds excellent.

Because I got good impression of LM amplifier, I got temptation to buy their speaker.

i don't disagree, the tops and mids are very good. I liked the Lansche. I think they are much better than the usual Wilson Magico that go around. But I preferred the Devores.

I like Devores too with its well balanced sound.

You mentioned that LM unit does not have any magic.

Does it mean that they are dry or lack dynamics?

I got some sweet offer for LM3 if I pay before the end of this year,

It is like clearance sale.

I would appreciate very much if you give me more information.

thanks

Just not the emotions that the WE speakers evoke with their drivers. LM drivers sound uninvolving, not sure why, and I would then just prefer a normal cone instead. You can get it if cheap and later when you have more budgets replace the drivers. If you are in EU Silvercore will do that for you

Does LM unit have enough dynamics?

I am attracted to it because of high efficiency and possible dynamics and sweet offer.

I do not like its Jensen duplicate tweeter unit.

If I buy it, I would complement it with Acapella Ion tweeters which will add air.

I can't recall I just remember it being uninvolving each time. Did not notice any issue in dynamics then

I am interested in them but prefer modern horns. I do not like the horns that depend of their directivity for flat on axis response. I much prefer Oblate Spheroid, modern waveguides and third generation CD horns. Much smoother and uniform coverage through out the room.

I wish to get high efficiency over 99db/w so that I can run low powered SET tube amplifier.

If that is satisfied, modern horn may be fine

Be aware, that the awesome plasma tweeter is 95 dB sensitivity max...

Pnoe owned by zerostargeneral is almost 120 db, and runs with 1w.

Zus owned by spiritofmusic are 101 db.

I hope both are reading this and smiling

For most people it should run with .1W ... Do we have open access to any measurements carried on this speaker?

I wouldn't know if there are any measurements. But heard them with Mayer 1.25 watts amp with the 46 valve, 18 watts 211, and Nat magma on its 40w setting, they sound best and great with the 1.25.

Oh yes, and don't bother at shows with 100w Ypsilon hybrid integrated
