I will suggest the rubber idea to see what material they think would work well. This snafu will be worked out. I am not putting the system in the basement with 8.5’ ceilings. The sound in the room is wonderful as is. I will consider more sound diffusing blinds.

. . . Don't pay him [GC] anything to fix it. . . .

Ah . . . wishful thinking . . . but no . . . I don't think it works that way.

If the GC didn't know what the support was for, it's not hard to understand how they didn't realize it needed to be specific for reducing things that affect audio.

I have wood floors on Kinetics Noise Control blocks sitting on a slab. This did not work for my turntable. That's why my turntable and other sensitive equipment is in another, completely decoupled, room!

Hi Bruce!

How can a wood floor over a slab not work?

There is an air gap of about 4" between the floor and slab. There are 3 "rooms within rooms" and the floors/walls/ceiling are totally decoupled from one another and the house. Floor.jpg

A-ha! Now I understand. That looks interesting and complicated. The "room within a room" technique is a very high-end, luxurious way to go!

Thank you!

So is the turntable/stand now more directly on concrete slab?

Hire an engineer, not difficult to deal with at all.

You won't like the sounds of a mastering room for listening to music, it's a tool with a purpose.

Ive said that all along. I hired a structural engineer who knew the architect I used for my room design. He was inexpensive and knew immediately how to handle my room. My subfloor was built to tolerate a load of 1500 pounds per sq foot whereas in a residence the norm is 40--60. My biggest fear was one day to find all my gear in the living room below

The turntable is just sitting on a large desk in a totally decoupled isolated room with a NC rating of 12...

You should make a DXD recording of a few tracks with the SME in this room and when playing in the studio and release them without identification. Then we should be able to listen and comment in WBF.

The support beam near the TT was properly shimmed today. Foot falls are not skipping the stylus anymore. I am still proceeding with more support/blocking to stiffen floor as much as reasonably possible. Now I can enjoy the more nuanced sound reproduction of this big air room with my AF1. Good times !

glad it turned out to be a straightforward solution. :)

To be honest I think that is valid Tang. I would expect to be able to jump up and down right next to the TT and nothing happen / literally nothing. Especially when we are going to the extreme lengths with everything else. If it doesn’t skip, it certainly doesn’t mean that the stylus is protected from micro vibrations or sub macro vibrations (whatever that is lol).
