indeed, so I bought 2 of the 3shelf Exoteryc Rack plus the upper optional turntable platform .
The Exoteryc Rack has still a good value. Have not heard the more expensive versions, so I cannot judge ....

I am just referring to the current German retail price list

I thought Artesania was made in Spain so the prices in EU should be lower than in N Am and Asia but it's the contrary. :(

That´s €66,000 just for the two racks above, not counting the floor base for the amp, you could build a superb system for a lot less. It looks like Artesania has realized the fact that they can charge exhorbitant amounts of money for racks because most likely somebody will pay it, I´m spanish and want the best for them but those prices make me cringe.

That´s what I thought when I read the prices, that they were unbelievable, but Shakti seems to have good knowledge.

I have the price list in front of me, as this is the official retail price list and not a secret, I can share it .

Sorry to go OT, but does anyone have any experience of the Artesania dampner plates?

Please look to the second picture, there is the "improved" 2.4kg damper shown, this one comes standard with a rack , so I use it. The effect is great and comparable to the HRS Nimbus. On some of my gear, I still prefer HRS Nimbus, on some the Artesania Damper. The 195,-eur is not expensive for the positive effect (for example on my Boulder 2008)

Well, I'm always looking at new ways to burn cash.

I've got five components that could benefit from a little weighting down to couple better w Rollerblocks beneath, and combine with a little chassis dampening. I had been considering simple ceramic tiles on Herbies dampening discs on top of these pieces.

Do you have some record weights? I start always with a record weight. If such a part has a positive effect on the component, I start to try different weights and sizes ofHRS Nimbus. Sometimes the effect of a good record weight is better..., I just ordered more of the Artesania dampers, as they are an interesting alternative.
I use the Nimbus sometimes even on Rack shelves under turntable or DAC

Juergen, it's not easy to a/b Artesania v HRS in UK.

Yes, I've just installed a 445g Panzerholz/metal record weight on my tt. I guess I could see how this works on my cdp.

I'm also curious as to how something like slate pieces w Herbies damping Supersonic Stabilizers might work out. Certainly these would be more affordable.

I am a big fan of HRS and Artesania dampers and use both. I have a whole bunch of both. In my system, an Artesania damping plate (not the triple thick one, but the mid-level one) is equivalent in effectiveness to the 12" double thickness HRS damping plate. That is pretty consistent over 5 years of adding/testing and comparing on different components.

I have bought mine based on when they come up 2nd hand/deeply discounted more than anything else. They both work incredibly well.

The heaviest of the EU-available ARtesania dampers is my favorite and makes a big improvement over regular Artesania and the big HRS damping plate...but it is not always necessary. But in the cases where it was needed...i found it worked as well as 3 regular Artesania plates.

Lloyd, is it recommended to use more than one Artesania or HRS per component?

I ask because I know some mass loading over the three Rollerblocks isolation per component that I use would make logical sense.

This would lend itself to 3 damping plates per component, or 2 in the intersections of the Rollerblocks, obv only one damper needed on small components like PSUs.

Shakti, thanks for posting those prices, almost €11,000 for the Absolute Floor Rack is stratospheric, the first picture of this thread which I copied earlier contains €77,000 worth of racks, I think I´ll shut my mouth since I can´t come up with anything positive to say.

Generally speaking, i have not had an issue when using more than 1 damping plate of either kind. By contrast, i have definitely found that what goes underneath has made a difference that can be positive or negative. But on top, more has been better generally...perhaps i never got to the point of overdoing it.

In fact, now that I think about it...there are a few reviews of HRS (particularly damping plates) which said as much as well...more was better to the extent the reviewer had tried more.

And in the case of certain things (big sub, big amps...things with big surface area)...i have definitely found you almost want to have more than one if you are really going to hear the benefit/improvement. One man's experience. Hope that helps.

Spirit,

Just found this from the legendary Atmasphere himself when someone was asking about SRA:

It is impossible to mechanically over-damp audio equipment (I am not talking about electrical damping).

If you are of the opinion that this is not the case, then its likely that you are used to dealing with synergistic effects which is usually not a good way to set up a system.

Now it is possible to put so much damping product on a tube that you can damage the tube by overheating it, but this is an issue of heat rather than damping.

Let's say you are compensating for a brightness by using dull equipment elsewhere. The result may be an even tonality, but one that is lacking transparency and detail. You are much better off if the equipment stands on its own merits and lacks coloration on its own.

This is why a good stand for amplifiers or for the front end of the system is a good idea- the less vibration you have, the greater the ease that the gear can realize its musical potential."

It seems the guys at Kaiser Acoustics (of Kawero speaker fame) came up with the panzerholz rack concept some time ago, the rack is terribly similar to the Artesania Absolute but I couldn´t find info on availability or pricing anywhere:

https://www.kaiser-acoustics.com/en/hifi-equipment/leading-edge/leading-edge.html

Finally the most Racks look similar, but the differences are in the small details, Kaiser has full Panzerholz shelves with metal inserts and a metal frame, , Artesania is using Panzerholz as the frame and nearly no shelves (as standard with Artesania), so the devices will stay on their decoupling interface system.
