The Zepsters...

Not as good as the drum video but then nor is the original YT video IMHO. Done for Ked really.

Apologies for wonky camera. This is NOT a professional production!:)

One thing - get yourself a big screen and it is really hard NOT to watch YT all the time even though a lot of material is sub par. You have all been warned!:)

The sax is very continuous, nice tone. The drums are fast with no fat

Yeah, as a former long time electrostat and ribbon owner, I am quite sensitive to having a good blend between the drivers and discontinuity between drivers. Also, I like a fast, tight and dry bass, which this has (although in real life there is a bit more heft than is captured by the iPhone). That is one of the aspects I like about the TQWT bass loading principle...it has horn speed but more weight than the typical back loaded horn, which are usually too short for true bass. The amount and power of the bass is truly surprising in this speaker for an 8 inch driver with almost no throw and a low Qts.

I first heard that 2nd track through a pair of Cabasse speakers at a show years ago and it worked well. Good here, too, for as much as a video can tell you.

What is it?
To be honest I don't remember and I have a copy of it so I don't have the track list. It is on the Manger demo cd...

Morricab's two tracks are normally a showcase for Magico here in BKK. Almost like they were made for Magico. I have not heard any other speakers beat Magico on these two tracks focusing on drum. If PeterA has this album, maybe he could show Magico supremacy on drum...any drum actually. :)

I remember one year I was at a show where they were demoing the Magico Q1 with Soulution 500 something integrated and Soulution Cd player...Christoph commented the kick drum sounded like someone hitting a shoebox! Guess you mean bigger models...

I thought it would be fun to do a You Tube video of a You Tube video.

I played it back through the Apogees before I uploaded it and it wasn't too bad. A bit muffled via the camera mic and no doubt the YT compression makes it worse still. But it should sound alright through a decent system.

In the flesh it is good but YT is a comprised source.

Recorded on a OnePlus 6 mobile phone. It's mono.

Ked I didn't use the Rowland. I nicked it's memory stick a while back and had forgotten where it was.

I did a Led Zep too. Will post later.

Acually I have been thinking about this video and have come to one conclusion. This video assess nothing else but the quality of the mic in a 2 year old+ mid priced mobile phone.

Whatever.

That said the electret mic inside most phones is an inverse Apogee.

Have a good think about that.

It also exposes some trouble with video and music. Synchronising what you see with what you hear is obviously massively important.

An electret mic is an electrostatic element, not a ribbon in a magnetic field. So, a speaker like Audiostatic, Acoustat or STAX would be like an inverse microphone, not an Apogee.

Jazz (Mono) Percussion video.

Source: Brinkmann Balance/Kuzma 4P/ Lyra Etna Lambda

I was trying to record this one live album I have because of the drum in it, but the sounds in the music made my dogs bark.

I'd put this one up there with some of the classics.
