Modern speakers vs Vintage speakers

I can attest to the massive difference an improved crossover can make.
Also use the Duelund 16 and 12GA tinned copper wires. They take a LONG time to break-in - 150 hours. The sound will change significantly during that time, including sounding downright terrible for the first 100 hours or so…

I am using a combination of 12GA and 16GA. Each sounds considerably different. At the low cost, it’s worth experimenting with both gauges.

My findings regarding Duelund speaker cables align with yours. Once you get past 150-200 hours they sound wonderful. Great bang for the buck when it comes to cables.

I was ready to give up on the Duelund wire. They are really “that bad” until they are broken in. I couldn’t believe they would get better, thinking the differences had to be due to other factors. Also, according to Jeff Day, who’s tested these extensively, burn in devices don’t really work well. So the best option is to use them through the burn-in.
For those who are patient enough, they are outstanding, and at very reasonable cost.

I am having second thoughts regarding the super tweeters. I changed my compression drivers from ferrite 902-8B, to AlNiCo GPA 802-G8s and then ran two-driver, compression driver volume set at top right corner of the black base plate. I also removed much of the wool felt from the insides of the bass cabinet. Sounds good.

At the end of July I am hoping to get Kedar around for a listen with and without the super-tweeter engaged for his opinion (I suspect his high frequency hearing better than mine), and also swap a GM70 amplifier in place of my Ayon Spitfire for a listen. Will write about that when the time comes.

IME adding tweeters, or supertweeters can only be succesful if you take great care adjusting them for time coherence

No there was a hum which was resolved. They were voiced initially on universum which are 96 db and the pnoe are crazy db so that had to be adjusted. They are better than Kondo Neiro 2a3 and audio note empress 2a3. Will also compare them to Shindo 300b my gut says they are much better

I had been to my favorite vintage store in Seoul.

Western 757A monitor sounds very pleasant and refined.

Its dynamics is pretty good but not going very deep.

I am not sure it will work well with my Rel 31 subwoofers.

This one is not original Western field coil system but replica made in Japan.

But it sounds fast and go deeper.

I asked shop owner whether he can find me Western original field coil systems.

He need advance money and three months to find it.

Magico M9 sounds like the best top grade whiskey with no faults at all.

But it is too heavy for my second floor listening room with wooden pillars.

On the other hand Western original or replica speaker sound like vintage wines.

They may not sound perfect but with peculiar flavor.

It sounds nice with 20 Watts tube amp.
