The review is nothing but advertising copy.
It's a little more than just advertising copy, but not much, IMO. Although the reviewer does speak to specific experiences of specific recordings, the "over the top" tone of comments is hard to take/believe. Such commentary as "Unlike many other high-end loudspeakers, exotic and esoteric materials and components are used where they are needed and not randomly placed for the sake of it." are self-impeaching BS to me. It's like a breathless statement of "Finally, we have found the One True God!" Oi. "Reviewers"...

We have another LM 1 review coming from Key Kim/Positive Feedback in the future. Key has been living with the LM1s for 6 months now, playing them with tubes/SS and digital/vinyl.

On the flip side since the M/S "advertisement" came out Miguel in Spain has one demo scheduled for the LM 1 and we have one LM1 demo and one LM3 demo scheduled.

Many people like to hear about the company and how the speakers are made. It gets them interested enough to have them schedule a demo. It serves its purpose for some, even though it does not work for everyone.

I really enjoyed these speakers in Munich this year despite them being in one of the "inferior" box rooms in the main halls, and went back a few times to listen to them. There was no one particular feature which stood out, but they just sounded "right". They are also exquisitely made & finished, although the design may not be to everyone's taste. You can pick up some of this from the article, so it's a shame that the hyperbole ends up over-riding this.

WBF member anomaly7 (David) posted in my room thread about his visit several months back. At the time I had no information telling me he writes and posts on what is now the "Audiophile Foundation" website, previously San Francisco Audio Federation (Foundation?) David dropped some new prose there recently describing his visit here to "Rhapsody Out West."

Have a read for yourself, David's a very accessible writer... (Thanks David for the kind words.)

All the mono/stereo “reviews” I have read are deep purple prose glorifications. Embarrassing. The gear they review deserves better.
Even though Mono/Stereo does not meet MANY WBF members approval, for companies like Lorenzo who are not a well known company, it allows their products and information about their company to be delivered around the globe to MANY interested potential customers. Think of it as an infomercial if you will vs a hard core review. My suggestion is if it bothers someone then simply ignore it. For both Lorenzo and their distributors around the globe it more than helped us secure many requests for information and demonstrations.

Since the specific LM 1 Mono/Stereo "infomercial" was published in the US we have had four requests for demonstrations of the LM1 and two requests for LM2 and LM3 Lorenzo models. All because of the M/S "whatever you want to call it". We actually are doing one of those LM 1 demos today at the Rhapsody Manhattan location.

In Europe since the document was published Lorenzo and it's dealers in Euro have had 5+ requests for more information about the Lorenzo speakers and customers asking where they can hear the Lorenzo LM1s.

So even though it does not meet certain WBF members expectations, it is a very valuable method of gaining potential interested parties to learn a bit about the company and its product offerings.

Both Lorenzo and its distributors do not find the review/infomercial embarrassing at all. Not an issue if that's your opinion, but it is definitely not Lorenzo or Rhapsody's opinion. The article helped us a lot. We appreciated it and so did many interested parties.

I would point out that one of our WBF long-timers, who has been very exacting in his system set-up and could hardly be characterized as anyone’s “shill”, loved these beauties in Munich. Much more so than the M/S piece, his praise made me think the Lorenzo's are real contenders. Too bad they’re just too pretty to live in my house.

I’m happy it’s been good for business!

But that has nothing to do with whether M/S reviews warrant being taken seriously by a potential buyer. For that, I would rely on people I know I can trust, including dealers like Rhapsody.

I don't see any explicit mention on the M/S site on whether they require ad purchase along with reviews. But, I'm guessing this is part of their business model.

Six Moons, a site which I respect, is transparent that they require ad purchase with review, but do not have the over the top promotional nature of M/S and come across as legitimate reviews.

Anyway, not trying to derail the thread...

Another pair of Alsyvox Caravaggio XX that Rick Brown from Hi-Fi One https://www.rbhifi1.com in Carlsbad, CA installed last week. Rick is running the C XX with his amazing Hi Fi One Reference SET 20 Watt amplifiers as reviewed recently by Robert Harley/TAS. https://www.theabsolutesound.com/ar...t-reference-amplifier-robert-harley-previews/

Give Rick a call to visit and hear the Caravaggio XX with his pair of Reference SET amplifiers.

The toe-in looks massive to me
Crosses way before the listeners head

Agree Christophe / . Daniele actually toes in and crosses before listener.

I have experimented for hours and for my room it is best to cross slightly before but not that aggressively - pointing directly at you throws off a lot of treble energy and behind me is close second but is slightly less interesting to me

Yes, and they sound great with this amount of toe-in. It is recommended by Daniele. It is how I have my Caravaggio XX.

Anyone surprised about the 20 W reference amplifiers from Rick Brown should read the report from Robert Harley in the Absolute Sound. ROBERT was stunned by their sound. I heard them at Roberts place in Albuquerque and much preferred the sound with the 20 Watters over the large CH Precision amplification that was also on hand.

I just finished setting up a new SME60 TT at Rhapsody Brooklyn. I’m using a MSL Signature Platinum cartridge and it sounds REALLY GOOD!

Very cool, Bob. Congratulations on the representation. Once you’ve had a chance to listen to it for a while, I’m very curious how it sounds compared to the VYGER. I used to own the model 30 with the MSL signature gold cartridge. This must be a step up all around.
