Good morning everyone

APologies for not posting here. I have spent the last 2 weeks in hospital and am on recovery duties at the moment,

Lovely morning here today - cold overnight (near freezing) but warming up into clear blue sky and a balmy mid 50's - might even make 60F.

This morning's photo is a jigsaw puzzle (not sure what you call them in the US). We named her Gertrude the cat.

It wasn't a terribly difficult puzzle - and one we really enjoyed doing. Note the two kittens in the background.

My ideal sort of house, incidentally. Lots of character.

IMG_1745.jpeg

Our last cat (sadly I had to put her down in 2012) was a long haired tortoise-shell. She had a...ahem.. difficult personality. I think in the entire 15 years of her life she sat on my lap twice. She was most definitely my wife's cat - even though I was responsible for making her suppers and the like. She did her best to scratch me anytime i had to pick her up, and would randomly have a swipe at me as I passed her by - just for good measure. She grew impossible not to love.

Visits to the vets were a fraught affair - we worked out that trapping her in the bathroom room, a swift pair of (leather gloved) hands and head first into her transport cage was the only way to safely navigate those furry paws of death. The Vets were never that thrilled to see her..

Oddly - she also loved a good fight with my wife (wife's arm safely wrapped up in a thick dressing gown). All good natured and she was always better behaved for it.

She never caught a bird in her life, although tried many many times. Not one of life's great hunters. But we appreciated the spirit. The Magpies gave her curry.

We haven't had a cat since - long over due - but like Harry Potter - firmly believe the wand chooses the wizard. One will turn up when ready.

I hope everyone has a super day, filled with love laughter and happiness, and Gertrude says hi!

Get well Soon ! Cute story.. We also have a couple of weaponized kitties that hate the trip to the vet. The vet showed us how to tango with them at these precarious times by handling them by the scruff of the neck and placing them into the crate. It doesn’t hurt them and they go limp and feet first into the crate..
Hope you get Well soon and a kitty/kitties seeks you out for a good home..

Good morning one and all

Taking some inspiration from Mark, this mornings photo is of an old shed on some farmland taken from the road ??near Pyengana?, ?Tasmania?.

Pyengana is tiny - around 100 people live there - and is best described not as a town but as a farming region. Probably its biggest claim to fame is the Pyengana Cheese Factory - which is run by 4th generation cheese makers. They specialise in clothbound cheddar - which often makes its way to Hobart for the various farmers markets.

The colours that day were spectacular, with the wild Lupins out in full force.

Thank you Mark & AMR for those lovely photos. They have brightened up my day no end.

AMR - where is that? I see a fortified town on a hill in the background, with what looks like a castle/keep.

Mark - I wonder what the story is behind that John Deere: amazing to think it was new once, used for many years, and then someone at some stage thought it was a good idea to park it in a barn, and there it has stayed no doubt long after the original owners/users have passed away.

I must say - Montana looks an absolutely beautiful part of the world. 95 - 100F? - not so much.

I wish everyone a wonderful day, or evening, as the case may be.

Noticed a small issue with my copy of this disc recently. So I rebought it along with a few other discs all currently impregnated with fragments after being scraped off a delivery spear along with the rest of this morning's mail.

Penetration was such it passed through this and one more before impaling a double cover and just catching the edge of final disc cracking it. :D

Rando! Welcome to my thread and thank you for posting. It might not be Montana landscapes wild lupins or sunsets and safe harbours, but I I can identify with the cracked CD case.

Now - you have however piqued my interest - what on earth is a delivery spear? I have in my minds eye your post being impaled on your front porch… just for good measure.

Somewhere before completing it's journey in my hands. This package was speared with a sharp object using enough unrelenting mechanical force to destroy three discs sealed inside four layers of protection.

Oh gosh - that’s not good!

I have to say …. I do love streaming - it does remove problems like this.

you know - I happened upon a HDD of all my SACDs I ripped to DSD .dsf around 2011. Along with all the others I’ve come to acquire over the years. Took ages to rip them. By memory I needed licensed commercial sw to do it back then. Long time ago now. Recall it was quite involved.

Must grab something that can play them again. Some real crackerjacks in there.

do you rip your SACD’s? For that matter - are you keen on streaming?

Now - for something only seen in Tasmania - a sign to look out for Tasmanian Devils.

We were in a very remote part of the North West of the Tas, when we took this picture. This was incidentally listed as a two lane highway....

Not ten minutes later a Tassie Devil scurried across the road - which was very unusual - they are largely nocturnal.

I would include some fun facts and fiction on them, but I have been sitting too long and I shall pay for it. Spinal surgery and sitting do not go together.

I have, dabbled in quite a few things including ways to play with discs and files. Streaming is certainly something I've enjoyed for a number of years.

This should be closer to your theme I interrupted with "audio fun."

Oh that is so beautiful - thank you

Boy do you ever!

sunrise is always such a peaceful time, before the world starts.

Happy 4th July to my American friends!
The older I get, the earlier I wake up each day.. I find the pre Dawn time to be very peaceful and calming, goes great with a cup of coffee!
Also gives me time to experience the new pain of the day before others awaken..
