Walk in the forest photo.
Flowing water was playing with light and making patterns on the surface. Reflexions of the sky and woods add to all this layering of things.

Just over 2 years ago, the only restored and operational “Big Boy” steam locomotive in existence came through Ogden UT on tour. I hiked about 4 miles up the tracks 6 hours before it’s passing, in order to get photos sans the crowds of people that flocked out to see it. It’s a MASSIVE piece of equipment - a 4-8-8-4 configuration that is 132’ long, and a staggering 1.2 million lbs.

Good afternoon to everyone.

This is a photo of a Bennett's Wallaby I took on a walk earlier in the year. I guess it was around 5m away.
IMG_1710.jpeg
Here is a little about them taken from this website:

Bennett's Wallabies - known as the red-necked wallaby on mainland Australia, is one of Tasmania's most commonly seen native animals.

Males can weigh more than 20 kg and stand up to 1.5 m tall. They can be distinguished from the pademelon and kangaroo by their black nose and paws, and white stripe on the upper lip.

They are largely solitary, although loose groups, known as mobs, often share common feeding areas. They feed at afternoon and dusk, generally grazing on grass and herbs.

There is a distinct breeding season, with births occurring late summer to early autumn. The gestation period is 30 days. Pouch life is about 280 days and weaning occurs at 12-17 months.

We often see these Wallabies on our walks/in the bush behind our property, and a mother and her joey come most evenings to feed on our front lawn. They don't much care for us shining a torch on them and saying hello!

I hope everyone is staying safe and is enjoying a peaceful and happy day/evening.

Good morning one and all

Taking some inspiration from Mark, this mornings photo is of an old shed on some farmland taken from the road ??near Pyengana?, ?Tasmania?.

Pyengana is tiny - around 100 people live there - and is best described not as a town but as a farming region. Probably its biggest claim to fame is the Pyengana Cheese Factory - which is run by 4th generation cheese makers. They specialise in clothbound cheddar - which often makes its way to Hobart for the various farmers markets.

The colours that day were spectacular, with the wild Lupins out in full force.

Thank you Mark & AMR for those lovely photos. They have brightened up my day no end.

AMR - where is that? I see a fortified town on a hill in the background, with what looks like a castle/keep.

Mark - I wonder what the story is behind that John Deere: amazing to think it was new once, used for many years, and then someone at some stage thought it was a good idea to park it in a barn, and there it has stayed no doubt long after the original owners/users have passed away.

I must say - Montana looks an absolutely beautiful part of the world. 95 - 100F? - not so much.

I wish everyone a wonderful day, or evening, as the case may be.
I belive those flowers are digitalus, or foxglove, not lupin.

Winter has arrivd the last week in Tassie. While we live by the coast, and have only had snow on the Mt Wellington (first post in this thread), I have downloaded and post here some photos taken over the weekend all around the Central Highlands- around 3 - 4 hours drive from us - and obviously in someone's back yard! That is a Bennett's Wallaby - a young female.

It gets like these for a month or three every winter in the Central Highlands - depending on the winter. Closes alot of roads.

Hope everyone is having a great week.
