About to get Allnic H-8000 DHT

Ordered an Allnic H-8000 DHT, expecting arrival this week. I'm sharing the excitement and also trying to get some references in tube rolling. I'll let it run with the shipped tubes for a while to get a good sense of the sound before rolling the tubes.

I owned a CH precision P1+X1 and recently became absorbed into SUT phono amplification therefore traded the P1+X1 to a friend and ordered an Allnic H-8000 DHT. Kinda adventurous as I didn't have the chance to have a serious audition to an Allnic gear. I saw some good comments here about the old flagship H-5000.

Then we will make the same experience very likely soon.
My H-8000 is scheduled for shipping also already.
I have owned the H-5000 some years ago and it was already very good, especially after swapping the rectifier tubes.
I hope we both will enjoy the H-8000.

5000 was amazing. Would love to hear the 8000. @Dante Choi also has the 5000 with very rare tannoy autographs with silver drivers, and some exotic Allnic amps. His friend has the 5000 with tannoy autograph and red drivers. In 3000/7000 and 5000 most replaced it with the KR (and now RK) 5u4g. I don't know if in 8000 that holds true or not as it's using 5y3. So you might have to roll and try some new ones.

Some also used the western electric if they managed to source a good one

I am building my last home for retirement in the near future and want to know if the Alnic 7000 or 8000 emit less heat than the Aesthetix IO Signature? The only complaint I have about the IO is that it emits so much heat when warmed up, but thats when it is at its prime. When I read the comparison I was wondering how long of a warm up was allowed for the phono stages. I know through my experiences that the IO neds a good hour and then a few minutes of record play after that to really shine. Does the Alnic need such a long warmup time and is it blazing hot like the IO when it’s warmed up? I am not complaining about IO, just rationalizing my next move. If the Alnic 8000 is leagues above the IO in sound quality, which by all means is a feat in itself and has less heat, count me in For the Alnic. thanks.

Thanks Tango for the comments. I'm expecting the arrival of Allnic 8000 with more enthusiasm now I read your great reviews on the Zerodistortion website and loved it. It seems that your studio is in Bangkok. I travel quite regularly to Bangkok for business and wish one day I could visit you there, when the crazy pandemic situation is eased.

It's not leagues better than the IO, the IO can be a fantastic phono as well that you can change in many ways if you master the rolling of 26 valves! With Allnic you need to roll only one recti, and then optionally the pair of 300b.

And no it doesn't run hot like IO. I would get Allnic 5000/8000 if I had the money.

I love SUT sound , and how they can extra extra qualities from carts , so far I haven’t heard this in any straight voltage gain mc circuit, and very cost effective sound quality wise ...

Thank you for the reply. Like so many things in this hobby, you have to really test it in your own system to see what it will sound like. That always seem to be a challenge especially at this price range.

I believe that Allnic in stock form always tries to sound beautiful like Tang said, too colored and rolled off for me. But it changes character totally by valve swaps which add more neutrality, energy, extension and punch. So I don't think Allnic in stock form should be used as a data point.

Roger that. I can same the same thing about the IO. Years of trial and error to get the Best balance of music satisfaction and low noise tubes. It’s a maddening hobby we have. Thank you for that insight.

The Allnic DHT 8000 phono is not leagues better than the Io in any parameter. In fact- especially with stock rectifier- I can easily make the case in the other direction. I have the Io eclipsed.. and the Allnic is local to me in one of my group's systems. I get to hear both- different systems , however, I can ascertain its character. I find it difficult to beat the Io "IF" you have taken the care with the tubes.

My sample is pretty well silent.. however, you need to be very selective with tube types and quality. The kind of work involved is significant... so I get when people complain about this. After all, this hobby is about "commitment" isn't it?

I am curious about how you arrived at the big Mac 2301 amps for the Classic Audios...on the one hand, I fully appreciate that enormous power with high efficiency can sometimes lead to extraordinary effortlessness with no risk whatsoever of ever running out of steam for major transients...on the other hand, I have read the many like using Atmasphere's medium powered amps with the Classic Audios. Thank you. I had the McIntosh before the T1s. My analog tube journey started in a Germany where I was stationed. I had Octave Audio MRE 130 Mono amps with Super Black Box and Octave HP500 Special Edition preamp Driving B&W Nautilus 800s. Upgraded to the Octave Jubilee preamp, and that’s forever. Wonderful music, but not enough drive for me as I love to play loud. Returned to the U.S., sold the Octave MRE130 and bought the MC2301s to drive the B&W 800s. Great combo but inefficient speaker and age of drivers led me on a speaker hunt for several years. Listed extensively to Audio Physik DUOs, MBL 101s, and Sonus Faber while in Germany. Just did not seem to tick all the boxes for me. In the U.S, listened to Klipsch Jubilee, Klipschorn, Cornwalls, Legacy Audio Aeris, Tekton Ulfehrts, Spatial Audio, and a few more that I forget. At the Capital Audio Fest, I walked into the Classic Audio Listening room and heard the T1.5s....I knew they were it for me. Now, the pairing with Atmasphere amps seem to be what John Wolff demonstrates as he is also a dealer of Atmasphete, but they sound great together. When John delivered the speakers to my house, we fired up the system, and he was highly impressed by the combination. They exude all of the superlatives paired with the MC2301s as one would describe with the Atmaspheres. I play music loud, not just for gemutlich low level listening, I like to hear it rock the room. The pairing with the MC2301 gives that to me. Low level listening, well, if you want it, then play low and sit back and relax. I do that but find at 98db efficiency, I still love to play loud. The vocals and realism of voices are just incredible. This I felt when I first heard them and feel the same. I am addicted to listening to the system every night after work because I have a performance onstage in my room every time I play a record.
