Another review dropped on the SmoothLan Regenerator.

I see where some of the pricier Ethernet cables include filter-like features that might obviate the need for yet another network box (and cable)? Examples: Shunyata Reference Ethernet cables, WW Platinum Starlight. Anyone compared one of these with using a separate filter product?

No the most glowing of reviews.
I take reviewers as seriously as I take forums. With return privileges you buy, try and if it’s not for you, return. And like any audition it will depend on the components in the chain, evident in this review.

The Ear is the new What HIFI. Anything that smells UK gets raving reviews.
So you say. As I have had this devise in my system for 4 weeks, I can attest they are right and you're not.....

Hi All,
I’ve had the SmoothLan for almost two weeks now. This coming Monday evening will be the 2 week mark actually. Initially the Soundstage collapsed and things seemed dis-jointed. Within an hour I commented to an Audio bud that it was starting to grab my attention. At around the 2 hr mark I indicated to him that I was noticing more detail and the soundstage had started to improve. It’s been playing nonstop with either a mix of different genre’s or the Tellurium Q break-in disc. As of tonight I’ve noticed much more lower register control, no over modulation with Bass content. The soundstage is as it should be; nice and wide and deep. I reached out last weekend to Stack Audio asking about the differences between this filter and the Regenerator. I asked if there was any redundancy if both were used. I’m toying with ordering that as well and take advantage of the 60 day trial. Very curious as to how they compare as well as how they interact together.
Cheers….Mike

The ethernet cables have noise reduction of a lower order of magnitude, thought they generally have lower potential for negative effects than the filter boxes. One isn't a substitute for the other.
