Am I crazy to buy speakers of 22K $ without auditioning.

Today I'm smiling. For vocals (opera and chorals) I would say audition first, for everything else (Lady Gaga, Mötley Crüe, Judas Priest, Ozzy Osbourne, AC?DC, ...) no audition needed.
If I get LM3 speaker, I will use it to play rock or classical music loud.

But I will keep Lansche 4.1 for vocal music.

If your opinion is right, I may buy LM3 without audition.;)

But I will take time.

I bought the Magico S5 MK1 without hearing them. I did read reviews, print and online, for a year before I bought them, so I felt comfortable. I upgraded to the S5 MK2 without hearing it, but that was a no brainer. :)

Good luck.

Many people and reviewer had heard Magico speakers.

Thus it is rather safe to buy it without auditioning.

But LM3 is kind of unique replica of vintage horn speaker.

So it is safe to make decision after auditioning it.

Thanks a lot for your kind information.

It would have been more nice if it is held later April since I need to come back to Korea to have dental work done on early May.

Anyway, I will do my best to be there.

I am having dental treatment in Korea now.

best regards

Thomas

I bought my $42.7k Magico S5 Mk2's without auditioning them as I got a good deal by pre-ordering. Though I previously owned S5 Mk1's, and had heard both the S7 and S3, so I was prepared to take it on faith/brand reputation.

If I get LM3, I may be the first one to use it in USA.

$42.7k blind! Now that's a date.

I had tried to find more Youtube video about Line Magnetic speakers.

In the process I came across above video.

Above video was uploaded by the guy who claimed " No distortion" about LM3 speakers.

Alibaba may be just more than shopping platform.

After using Line Magnetic 508 amplifier for 6 months, I had formed some love with it.

Now we can not ignore Chinese product as inexpensive junk.

If I pull the trigger within 2 days using Alibaba anniversary sale , I can get LM3 speaker at 17k$ including shipping and WA state tax.

But it is not easy to buy it without auditioning.

I am going to go through one more day before making decision.

Thomas,
The LM3 looks sensational. Love it.

That is the $17k question... I’ve been doing capacitor upgrades as well as hook up cable on my pap horn and even that has made for remarkable improvement.

Obviously your electronics are going to do good things here. But yes, hard to say. Wonder if you could put a refundable deposit down till you get over there to hear them... though I suppose that might be a big call but might be worth asking.

One or two hours of listening at strange setting will not work.

Also, Anniversary sale will end in 2 days, thus I would rather make decision before the deadline.

If I want to gamble, I had better hurry

Please believe me when I say I mean no disrespect, but using cables to 'fix' the sound of speakers strikes me as fundamentally wrong.
I also have digital equalizers.

Accuphase DG28 and Lyngdorf 2170.

But I wish to get natural dynamics and bloom out of this horn speakers without digital equalizer but just cables.

Also tube rolling may help.

I have some collection of NOS tubes which give different colors to the sound.
