American Sound, "The Absolute Nothing"

You may not want to buy AM, which is understandable, but Turntable Speed is a free app you can download to your phone. It’s not a device, it’s free, and there’s no learning curve—you simply place it on the platter and run it.

You mentioned not wanting to spend money or time learning to use proper wow & flutter measuring tools, yet you invest time and money in a laser device that points at a spot on the wall without providing meaningful, readable output. Moreover, you take the time to record videos of that same laser, upload them to YouTube, and even discuss the spin-down time of the AS2000 platter. All these activities are related to wow & flutter and indicate that you’re interested, yet you choose not to measure it directly. I find this contradiction hard to understand.
Is it not weird for people to ask(expect) someone to do anything.... literally anything, simply because they want them to? I cannot imagine asking someone else to spend any amount of effort to do a thing, anything, because I don't quite believe a claim they've made in the world of audio.

I have no intention of changing the belt.
Re levelling the platter
Quite critical as we all know. As the seasons change so do the foundations of our buildings concrete or suspended timber, best check every month or sooner and level to best you can. Mine is very audible if slightly out , easy to hear. The TT has a bubble level on a pillar which acts as an indication only, if things are out a little, quite handy although you hear if not as should be.
What does it sound like when it's out of level?

I think, in fairness, the question was posed by an attempt both to accumulate more knowledge with a possible view of making an improvement. On the other hand it could be with a view to discredit a claim being advanced (whatever motivates that). I hasten to add that I’m not casting any dispersions either way

The simple answer is No.

I asked him politely, he declined, and we moved on without any conflict or insults exchanged. The matter was resolved amicably between the two of us.

What’s truly inappropriate, however, is a third party inserting themselves into a conversation between two individuals and attempting to teach how they should interact in a corrective way as if he is entitled to.

Nah. It's weird. Politely asking someone to do something, doesn't make it not weird.

You think you're having a conversation between yourself and....one other person? On a public FORUM. Where you yourself inserted your voice. Stop.

I gave my thoughts and opinion on something that was written here.....just like you and everyone else has. You didn't like it. You replied. That's how it goes.

I don't think it was done simply to accumulate more knowledge. I'm leaning towards the other thing. Though I could be incorrect.

He can speak for himself.

Your interference here is both unnecessary and unwarranted. Your attempt to dictate what others should ask, or when they should ask, is out of line. This is a public forum, and you are in no position to police or lecture anyone on what is appropriate to discuss.

Not once did I attempt to dictate what anyone should or shouldn't say, and there wasn't any lecture being made.

Yes, this is a public forum. And as such, I gave my opinion on a publicly made comment. Nothing more, nothing less. Just like you're giving yours on a comment being made. I have just as much a right as anyone to comment on something said.

Expecting that someone take the time and effort to complete a set of actions, because you don't believe a claim they've made.....is weird to me, so I called it out. Obviously you don't agree. Nothing wrong that that.
