An entry level sytem

Couldn't afford the KRK Rokit 6's for now, so I picked up some Behringer 1030A's. These along with my Asus Xonar Essence STX card give me a nice inexpensive PC setup. I just added some Auralex MoPads Isolation pads and used the additional wedgies so the tweeters are now almost pointing at ear level.

Thanks Bob! I've had that monitor for over 6 years now, but unfortunately its starting to give me some problems. It's been the best monitor I've ever owned so far and I'll be sad when I have to depart with her.

$499 direct

$499 for black, $549 for cherry.

Nice!

A few years back I had a HK 2-channel Integrated (forget the model #) with a pair of Totem Mites hooked up to my PC. The Mites are an amazing little speaker. About $600 now I think for the pair.

The Vanatoos were also at RAMF and sounded very good for the price.

Good find Tom. When I think of Technics I think of the DJ's staple the SL-1200. Do you think you wife will do any "scratching?"

Only WBF would have recommendations like ProAc and Benchmark for an entry level system! This is pretty specialist stuff already anywhere else.

uh, Jack you might want to check this out.

A plug for some speakers developed by a couple of friends:

You might want to give your friends some feedback that their website is misleading about whether these speakers support wireless.

On the title of the paragraph they say 'Direct And Wireless Connections'

But then when you read the small print it says you need an external wireless adaptor, presumably this connects through the direct connections already mentioned. So in reality there's no 'and wireless' - just direct connections.

Is that a passive radiator on the rear? Not many speakers have those these days.:)

I've seen them in action and they do have wireless capability. I think what they mean is you need a wireless router to provide a wireless signal. Sounds like the fine print needs to be more clear.

Indeed it is very unclear - they say:

Wireless streaming is supported through your choice of external adapter, so that as wireless standards change, your speakers won’t have to.

This makes a lot of sense as an argument for an external one, but how can the speakers be independent of wireless standards AND have an in-built wireless capability?

That does not make sense to me either.
