Note: I've skipped ahead from 1st post, so this may already have been decided/purchased.
I would have gone for a home theater receiver to the the dac built in, Denon/Marantz would be a good idea. A couple of years old used one would be much better value for money. Then I would have gone for the Guru QM10 monitor:
Or if in less or a hurry, the upcoming Guru Junior (which I think is mostly the same as the QM10 but in another form factor + cheaper):
