Any of you guys (girls) ever get fired from your job unjustly and ...

I still buy and sell stuff on Audiogon, though.

They don't seem to mind.

I always thought a highballer was a guy who wore his briefs too tight.

I'll never make that mistake again.

See the things you can learn on an audio site?

I've never been banned from a forum, but I have received warnings for the weirdest of reasons.

I'm not banned from Audiogon, but I did notice, somewhere along the way, that they didn't like something I posted because there was a time when my posts appeared right away and then at some point, I must have been put on some kind of list because it started to take, like, 72 hours for my posts to appear and sometimes they didn't appear at all.

Started in threads about exotic cables, but then they started putting all of my posts in some kind of cooling tank for a few days, no matter how innocuous.

Audiogon seems to really frown on objectivist postings about Cables.

Oh, well.

I got it and I moved on.

So, they didn't ban me, they took the chickensh*t route and simply made it so boring, I lost interest.

I don't know what time period you mean. They screen everything now.

Yup! :D ...The more slack you are inside the better you can move!

* By the way, I hate wearing rain gears, they slow you down.

** And I know a guy (Rick) that used to plant competely nude! Only wearing his runners!
{That was in Alberta, Canada.} ...He was planting between 3,000 and 5,000 trees, every single day (for about 10 hours non-stop per day).

Indeed, you can still learn a lot on Audio sites! :) ...Just stick around, you're in for a great ride! :D

Mark, I was reprimended at the Shack for the exact same thing: I posted a link to a great review from another site!
I didn't know that it was not permitted, and I was treated like a child! ...Like I committed a big crime!

..............

I can almost understand it in the above case, because that would take traffic to a competing site, but banning one's non-HT-related link--especially to one's livelihood, just doesn't make sense.

It was also their holier-than-thou attitude that ticked me off to a great extent. They're a bunch of holy rollers out there, and if you read all the way through the long ToS, it makes lots of references to their beloved 'god' and the words that offend that god. I had fun writing them a nice rebuke when they had the nerve to invite me to join a sister forum of theirs.

I do feel frustrated that I was blocked from posting on a forum that aligns with my values. Specifically about OOL.net, because they are closely aligned with the Ayn Rand Institute. The other Objectivist forums are aligned with David Kelly or Nathaniel Branden, both the 'dark side' of the Objectivist movement and intellectually dishonest individuals. There are plenty of forums run by folks who side with those two, but it's not the same as OOL. Oh well, even moderators have their non-linear zones.

Sometimes I think it would be a plus if I were to stop using the internet altogether.. it's a huge time sink. I spend about 80% of my time arguing with conservatives and liberals about issues I strongly disagree with, mostly on Facebook, but also on Youtube comments sections and on DSLR (as an anon poster). You see, it's the crusading spirit in me that I inherited from my mum.. I want to save the world so I can live in a world that won't try to destroy me.

I have my physical work in the spring to fall time, doing emergency renovations on a house which is falling apart from water damage, rot, termites, carpenter ants and design shortcomings due to the nature of circumstances when it was built. Since 2003, I've been devoting all my spare time and cash to this seemingly never-ending project. I work to exhaustion and every year, I do less and less.. I'm slowing down. I have colon cancer and my vitality and strength have been draining from my body, leaving me weaker and more easily exhausted each year. Like my father before me, it is likely that I'll die in the process of doing emergency repairs. So much for the dreams I had in the middle of the last century. About 20 years ago, I started to realize I wasn't smart enough, or fortunate by birth circumstances enough to achieve the goals I had set many decades earlier. So I just spend my leisure time on the internet, trying to do what I can to awaken as many folks as I can.

Mark, this is the most open post I read so far from this thread! And I can totally relate to it!

I will do anything to live in a better world! Your Mum is a good spririted lady! :)

* My body is extensively damaged.

I found this thread just shortly ago: Amir Mirror's Reflection :)

Holy **** Amir.... over 11 THOUSAND posts??? How do ya'll get the time to read/write all this??
You guys have me confused with someone else. It is not me. Honest! :)

OK, OK. It joined there 9 years ago. Amortized over that, it is not that many posts! At least I think it is not. OK, I confess. I have no life! :D

Say, are you interested in buying a Mark Levinson amp? :D :D :D

Well, I'm banned on the Shack! ...But I feel fine about it! ...And the reason was invalid!

I'm also banned on AVS, but that was a big mistake from the mod!

I'm also banned on Ultra-High End, and that one was totally uncalled for?

I'm also banned on Blu-ray, and hatred is at play here! No good reason whatsoever!
...Could also be total misunderstanding!?!

I would not put this on your resume.;)

Seriously, a friend of mine which has fought the local government on several property issues and the state over several "jurisdiction issues" put this sort of baggage on his resume. He also put it into the political flyer which he hung on door knobs while running for public office.

I have some weird friends (without a job or holding political office), what can I say?

I have been put on temporary ban in two forums for defending myself against bullies.

I have been banned by a person running an archaic format Yahoo group because I invited people to check out a more traditional format forum covering the same topic. Several people I respect and know have also had problems with this same witch. I feel that I keep good company.

On the work front I don't recall ever being fired, but I have been let go or laid off because business slacked off. I've never quit in anger or left without notice.

On one independent contracting job I gave a two week notice because I found a real job, the engineer said to clean out my desk and just leave that day. I did just that, finished up several independent drawing jobs and started the new job two weeks later.

George I know what you mean, it does not appear very good I admit; but it ain't my Resume lol.

* If I would go in extreme details and explain to you all there is to know so you can make your own judgement; plus all the rest of my "Resume" together with contacts to verify, I believe that at the end you would say Bob ain't a bad guy at all and that he did some pretty good things in his life.

Funny how our society is sometimes putting too much emphasis on the 'wrong' aspects of real value, but it is normal behavior in man's nature. Not for all men, but for many.

This thread is about feelings that we have about being 'unjustly' let go (or fired) of our job(s) in the past, and also from having been banned 'unjustly' as well (from forums).

And it also emcompasses that much more as it provides a path to your true reflections from all avenues of life... This is the real Guide to who you are and also some beneficial information to your fellow members on how some sites with some people operate.

It cannot be a generalisation as only very few people have the power to make decisions that can affect a big part of the community.

If I'm doing some' wrong I'd like my friends to tell me! That's what's best for me and everyone else!
And if I believe someone else is doing wrong, I'd like to return the favor!

But if we are doing some' good, then we need encouragement as well...

This thread is about how to see the good in bad, and to turn things around for what is truly the best!

Best regards,
Bob

P.S. Amir, I edited my post above regarding the link from AVS (post #93). ...For the very best. :)

I've never been fired but certainly ostrasized at times. One time I was brought in to clean up a technical mess. Did a reasonable job and so my advocates started to lobby that I take over the division--a prime example of the Peter Principle since I would not been a good fit. Unfortunately I didn't know this but of course my boss did and I became a threat. This lead to much awkwardneess and eventually a mediator was dragged into the mess. Nothing was resolved except that my boss would keep both his job and me. We went into a period of peaceful coexistence. Eventually I went on to other things and we became good friends. I drank to him at his second wedding and later drank with him after the divorce. Recently I have run into him at a firm where I am doing some consulting and we are both doing well and having a good time.

One time I travelled about 300 miles to a new job site up a mountain in the Kamloops area, Canada.

After two days, the contractor came to me and said: "Robert, I think it would be preferable that you leave quietly". And I said: "Why?". He replied: "Because with your experience you don't quite fit with my crew of younger people". ...I paused for few seconds, and without saying anything I just went, pack my tent and all the rest of my gear and left!

* I've seen all type of people in my line of work, but this one was quite exceptional!
By the way, the two days that I worked there on that mountain, I was very quiet and did an excellent job (of course, I'm a pro). ...I believe that the foreman saw in me a possible threat for his crew of young people that perhaps was exploited with less than fair wages (unity price per tree).

I've seen a lot!

I think I got banned fron another forum. The mod. (Zeus), just called me "stupid and insensitive"... go figure....
