I have ordered but not yet received these shelves from Stan Pike> They are less expensive than the beautiful Atocha cabinets.
The joinery and inlay detailing looks gorgeous! That would be a marvelous addition to any home. Enjoy!

Dear Ron,
Just my taste but this stuff looks boring and mundane. Why don't you look for something in Europe or have custom units built there and have it shipped over. IME unless you're willing to pay through the nose US sucks for furniture.
david
You can hire an architect you like locally to design the cabinet for you and have your contractor build it if you don't want to deal with shipping from overseas. This stuff isn't rocket science to build, you just need the right design.

Ron,
Go to a cabinet maker, like for custom kitchens. Look at some photos on the net and find something you like. The cabinet maker should be able to use any hardwood you like. They usually work with a finisher and will come out measure too and deliver & install.

Thank you, Roger, but I don’t see the point in reinventing the wheel when these are designed to hold heavy batches of LPs.
If I can make them more contemporary with a black finish and a steel base I am happy with these.
Hey I just wanted to jump in here, as the owner of an Atocha piece- I love her furniture, and use it to house 1/2 of our vinyl collection. We've had The Record Stand (a vertical storage unit) for years, and I can speak to the durability and weight of this piece. This furniture is going to last forever.
I am the designer of Koeppel Design products mentioned earlier in this thread, (thanks for the mention, KeithR!) and we've worked with Atocha Design on a number of custom client projects, and we can happily customize our dividers to any shelving or cabinet. If Jenn knows you plan to use our dividers, we'll work together to make sure the combination works perfectly together. Quite a few clients of ours have Atocha cabinets, and they are really beautiful and well made. I can't say enough about the work!

Frame clearance is tight on both the upper and lower LP drawer compartments. Tabbed dividers are a non-starter with the drawers in the stock configuration.

Also note the protruding screwheads... I originally covered them with adhesive felt pads but incessantly worried that they applied too much direct contact pressure on the LP surface so I ended up purchasing wooden tabbed dividers from Amazon and snapping off the tabs. Additionally, the CD storage drawers are the width of two jewel cases with approximately 2 inches to spare and also suffer from top side clearance issues on most cd box sets. You can't stack hinged end up because the drawers are too shallow. Consequently, you'll be looking down on the translucent top edge of your jewel cases.
I must add that this is not Ikea-quality furniture, this can be categorized as OMFG, hernia-inducing, "I-think-I'm-lifting-a-f'ing-elephant" furniture. Staircases are not your friend in this case.
thase13,
When you experienced the protruding screw heads impacting the cover of the first LP in the drawer are you sure your LPs were not packed tightly in the drawer?
The natural position of the records in the drawer if the drawer is not full seems to be that they lean back. So why would the first LP be leaning forward in such a way as to be impinged by the heads of the screws fastening the drawer pull?
You can also just put in a plastic divider in the front.
how big is your record collection Ron ? These pretty cabinets look like they will work great for small collections.

Just curious. Who would you inherit your vinyl treasures to Christian?
My psychic said we were past life relative.

I have no children and that's not likely to change at 56 years of age. Excellent question. Hopefully I get 30+ years to figure that out.
Maybe we can enjoy them in the after life ?
