Can digital get to vinyl sound and at what price?

Why stop the digital train at all, destroying fidelity by sending a signal from speakers to ears, when we can truly go direct with this remarkable neuralink tech coming soon via Elon Musk.

(Insert Cypres Hill lyrics and Matrix references here :)

I’ve dreamed about the day I can have one of Musks’ batteries installed in someone else’s brain. It may give a new meaning to someone having an absolute melt down. ;)

So I guess the short answer in all this is NO!

One day I believe that digital will exceed the capabilities of analogue (Vinyl). That day isn’t here yet, but IMO will be here very soon.… Until then I’ll treasure Vinyl knowing that sooner or later it will be trumped by streaming!

Agreed, not sure it will be in my lifetime.

The question should be the opposite
When will vinyl will sound as good as digital? The easy question is: never
it could never match the technical abilities of digital
It's inherently inferior.

:) :) :) Nothing draws attention better than negative blanket statements, LOL

You mean, like those of the anti-digital crowd here, LOL.

Regardless, I think that both those who think vinyl sucks in comparison to digital, and those who think digital sucks in comparison to vinyl, have not heard what either medium really can do.

Digital gives the opportunity to completely bypass traditional analog components: phono stage, preamp, and even amplification! That's why it holds such great potential.

so where you find incorrect statements by some your philosophy is to encourage extreme incorrect statements opposing those

Two wrongs always made a right

Huh? Just the opposite. My post was critical of the extremists on both sides.

it was encouraging digital on the back of a false strawman nostalgia comment.

Not sure about anti-digital but if you don't own a turntable you're anti-music.

How can anyone claim vinyl is better than digital is beyond me.
Science and facts prove it's a lot better .

Electronics Science just shows you measurements of two media and if you want to look at this subject from scientific view you should have complete mathematical model of these items:
1)Sound system
2) hearing system
3) brain system

in Electronic measurements using negative feedback is very good because it reduces distortion but when you listen to high feedback amplifiers you will realize the negative feedback is not good for sound.

Some audio designers does not care about simple measurements
Kondo, Lamm, Audio Note UK, Audiopax, Vitus, Pass Labs, CH, TAD, Dartzeel do not use Negative feedback or use minimum amount.

Nelson Pass article about negative feedback :

In any case the numbers prove It's a non starter for vinyl being better than digital
People may like the sound of vinyl and tubes better(actually the pleasant sound of distortion )
But technically it's way inferior
There's no way around it.

Yet some of us have, and happen to be particularly sensitive to what digital does wrong.
