Just to make things worse, there have been deaths from Covid-19 that were misdiagnosed as influenza in the US.

This means it's very likely that Covid-19 was transported from Wuhan to the US before the Chinese let the world know about it, and it's difficult to determine exactly how many folks thought they had the flu when it was really Covid-19.

The US and especially the CDC has a poor track record of misdiagnosing diseases or brushing away samples because they deem it not important.

NHL and MLB have suspended operations. It is time for the rest of the country to do the same. As it is now, I expect the number of positive tests in the US to explode in the next 2 weeks, partly due to the fact there will finally be mass testing...I hope.

The Boston authorities have not cancelled any concerts yet but what do they know? Nobody has any idea how much the virus has spread, ...

I just talked on the phone to a friend in Quebec. Hockey games without spectators, golf tournaments without spectators, their leader is in quarantine, his wife waiting for her results of COVID-19 test.

Any gathering of 250 people is banned.

* My personal opinion (suggestion): Every movie theater, every music concert, every sport event, every large meeting, every bar, cabaret, hotel, strip joint, ...should be close till @ least 40 days and @ that time with new reassessment. But it is now that North America can do something, not tomorrow morning when every single second counts. That is my opinion.

Glad you mentioned strip joints. I've heard guys are isolating themselves in these places. They have for years. The sacrifice.

I don't know about you guys around the country but here in Southern California I am watching every major news network at the moment and virtually every school, every social gathering, every sporting event has been canceled or suspended or "stay tuned for immediate changes"

Local governments, municipalities, organizations et al have been acting quickly and responsibly. The governor was just on TV saying don't go out to dine but rather order in and support local businesses.

I believe people are seeing the gravity of the situation but the worst has yet to come

Broadway theaters just closed down until April 12.
Carnegie just announced closure until March 31.

Too bad, I had 2 concerts next week, although to be honest, The Wed concert with MTT and the San Fran doing M6 would have been entirely appropriate since that is Mahler's darkest work and you feel like you want to jump off a bridge when hearing it. Kind of how I feel looking at the market this week.
