You are looking for trouble in all of the wrong places
They are meant for once only use
It makes ZERO sense

Sure they are meant for one time use. But we are talking about managing them during supply shortages.

That dr from that video (no idea who that guy is) apparently quoted some CDC rules which allow using them more than once.

All viruses die at certain temps. COVID-19 too. So the question rather is: at what temp and how long should that take and if the mask will be usable after exposure to high temps.

Early on, I read that particular virus would last MINUTES in above 26 Celsius temperatures. But now people are talking about the virus lasting HOURS on infected surfaces, I don't know anymore...

Should you wear a face mask to protect against coronavirus?

Both surgical masks and N95 respirators are only meant to be used once and then thrown away—healthcare providers use a new mask for every patient, in part because masks can be contaminated by germs during use. But consumers may be tempted to reuse them, possibly spreading the virus to other surfaces or items, says Aaron Glatt, M.D., chairman of medicine at Mount Sinai South Nassau and professor at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.

Apparently, everyone in China and Taiwan wear masks. But what do Chineese doctors know about Covid-19.

That is exactly what I'm saying.

I read somewhere, that the period virus can last depends on the surface it is on.

Copper is 4h, cardboard up 24h, steel is sth like 5 or 6 days.

So if you quarantine the mask long enough, the virus WILL be gone.

I'm pretty sure we will see more tests on how long the virus can last in the coming days and weeks.

Edit:
Depending on the type of surface, the virus can stay on surfaces for a few hours or up to several days, according to the WHO. A recent study by scientists in the U.S. found that viable virus could be detected up to three hours later in the air, up to four hours on copper, up to 24 hours on cardboard and up to two to three days on plastic and stainless steel.

And you keep reusing your masks. But f you find a Youtube video endorsing it, then all is good. But heck what does the WHO know as well.

Read the literature and show me statistical evidence that you’re correct

Tell me this: if the virus lives only a couple of days, how it can be alive after say 3 weeks ?

Just give me a straight answer.

you're deflecting Adam

You're changing what we are talking about. What don't you get that these masks are only meant to be used once for the very reason I posted

According to the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention(CDC) it's "currently unclear if a person can get 2019-nCoV by touching a surface or object that has the virus on it and then touching their own mouth, nose, or possibly their eyes."

In fact, not a lot is known about the COVID-19 virus at all, so researchers are turning to similar coronaviruses, like SARS and MERS, for answers.

Reviewing the literature on all available human and veterinary viruses within this family, encompassing 22 studies, researchers have found that the human pathogens can persist on surfaces and remain infectious at room temperature for up to nine days. (To put that in perspective, the measles viruscan live on contaminated surfaces for up to two hours.)

Granted, that's the upper end of a coronavirus lifespan, but on average, researchers say this family of viruses can survive between four and five days on various materials like aluminium, wood, paper, plastic and glass.

certainly a long time but no where have I read 3 weeks
