Coronavirus ...

Apparently, everyone in China and Taiwan wear masks. But what do Chineese doctors know about Covid-19.

It's a cultural thing, has nothing to do with science.

We all live in various countries...us right here.
Some have more humor than others in times like these exceptional times...tragic times, very.

On a theme that often comes back ... mask ...
Every country has every opinion that differ from one another, so there's no absolute for the entire planet. And what we read in one country is a different read in another country, and same thing on how we live. We live all differently and like different type of music in general.

I've read this earlier this morning ...

Also I've read something else; in a country close to mine they now have their Coronavirus discussions classified.

Also, regarding Coronavirus effects on the stock markets; it is not your usual, bonds lost too, and gold lost too. It is weird, very. So I wouldn't count anymore on what it supposed to be normal, because we live in a totally different financial world now, not normal. And it's going to get weirder IMO.

Meetings, Discussions, Deliberations on Coronavirus = Classified (USA)

I guess it's for the common good of the common mortals, in particular our elders and the most vulnerable ones with heart conditions, diabetes, lung respiratory issues, asthma, high blood pressure, etc. Also on test kits, on respiratory machines, on medical sanitization, staff, equipment, masks, number of patients, emergencies, priorities, etc., etc., etc.

Not for the general public consumption, in no basis information, classified.

Here in middle America I see very few masks in public places, and I don't think it's because there is a shortage. As I understand it, at best they merely minimize radius of propagation - large droplets are caught in the media, small ones are not. Employ common sense.

However, after scurrying myself for the last couple days, I see the rats are restless, reminiscent of movie scenes. The objects of desire - toilet paper and sanitizers. All of the large market retailers are out for days - Walmart, Target, Costco. Even the secondary grocery stores. Nothing. We have a new currency, and it's toilet paper. Gas is cheap and plentiful. My stocks are down 65%, but toilet paper is way up.

Now that schools are closing, business trips and meetings are cancelled or postponed, there is added pressure on my domestic reserves of this once plentiful commodity. And this is only the very start for us. Scenes of Mad Max to come?

I'm not considering the oven trick either.
At least in the mountains there is probably foliage while hiking. Spring foliage is still a month away here.

washing and reusing masks is the most absurd thing i have ever heard. Sort of like taking off your baby's dirty diaper , cleaning it and reusing it

I believe my mom washed diapers back in the 60's, but am pretty sure she put them back where they got messed in the first place, not over my face. I'll have to talk to her about that...

I remember that well but it is disposable paper diapers to which I refer

Right, washing a paper/fibrous based media is not effective. The media properties are altered and particulate doesn't release well. If you merely dry it, or bake it, you are prone to aspirating the solids previously collected by the media, increasing the probability of further issues.

... Found the answer in later posts.

Rolling on the floor? That's REALLY not advisable right now.
You obviously do not have the inflated ego it takes to truly appreciate the humor in that statement.

What was it Bud?

And how do you feel about this? You were quite negative yesterday towards the USA for doing something not as severe as this.
