Doctor's Orders-Part Two-The New Listening Room Of Steve Williams

The photo of your Wilsons and Lamms is absolutely beautiful; the tubes are beyond glowing. That must be so beautiful with the lights off.

Thanks Ian

It is the "copper glow""

The ML3's come stock with carbon plate GM70's which had the usual glow. Vladimir also had a total of 6 pair of matched copper plate GM 70's. I bought a pair and hence the glow. I never cozied up to this tube until recently when I visited David in Utah. He has the identical front and back end as my system and he preferred the copper plate. It really sounds as good as it looks

Are you talking to ME! :D

Heard digital on this system in a different room, it was excellent.

I listened to this album initially well over 20 years ago and even have a special edition of the album and have always liked it. When I saw that it was remastered I knew I had to have a vinyl copy. It has been sitting in my collection unopened for weeks until yesterday

Amused To Death for my ears is just one of those albums.

Can someone explain how they apply Q Sound to a vinyl pressing. Is that applied during the recording or in post pressing

Thanks to everyone who not only suggested this album but also found a link to Barnes and Noble who were selling the album new and unopened for $20

The Bright Mississippi by Allen Toussaint was sonically superb. I listened to it twice yesterday and plan on listening to it again today. Thanks again for the wonderful recommendation

I am loving my copy, I was hooked on the You Tube version, but I am loving the black licorice.

What were you listening to? No one seems very happy.

Considering the music that we were listening to, everybody looked appropriately blue. Unfortunately, I can't seem to post pictures today.

I was talking to Pandora (Phillip O'Hanlon's wife) and I told her that on a great system (like Steve's) it is possible to discern the nuances of emotion in the music. At the end of the tape, she turned to me and told me that now she understood what I meant. She said that on that track, she could easily hear that it was not just 'distress', but 'dispair'.

Steve, that shaded dog is not easy to find in anything close to near mint condition. If you got it from the library, was it not very noisy?? My pressing is a VG ( and it took me quite a while to acquire one that clean!) which sounds ok, so long a you can listen past the pops and crackles.

Some on discogs: https://www.discogs.com/sell/list?master_id=592308&ev=mb

It looks like the shaded dog is rated 3/5.

EDIT: My bad, the 1959 release I was speaking about is a Red Seal.

Not noisy at all after I cleaned it. An occasional pop but infrequent

Brothers In Arns has always been a favorite of mine but I've never heard it on vinyl til last night. What really grabbed me about this album was the two songs on side C, Why Worry and Ride Across The River sounded so good on my system that I've played those two songs several times these past few nights. Definitely worth listening. Amazing that this record was released in 1985

That is one album where the production crew did a bang up job using digital as the mastering/recording media.
