Doctor's Orders-Part Two-The New Listening Room Of Steve Williams

Ah... I have not heard this version. I own the original Warner Bros issue and its an amazing sounding LP considering it comes from a major label. Hopefully, they did not play with the SQ with the reissue.

I have no idea but can say the LP is vastly better than my cd version

A review from All music

Jeff Buckley was many things, but humble wasn't one of them. Grace is an audacious debut album, filled with sweeping choruses, bombastic arrangements, searching lyrics, and above all, the richly textured voice of Buckley himself, which resembled a cross between Robert Plant, Van Morrison, and his father Tim. And that's a fair starting point for his music: Grace sounds like a Led Zeppelin album written by an ambitious folkie with a fondness for lounge jazz. At his best -- the soaring title track, "Last Goodbye," and the mournful "Lover, You Should've Come Over" -- Buckley's grasp met his reach with startling results; at its worst, Grace is merely promising.

Which cartridge?

Do you find it has a bigger soundstage than your Anna, Steve?

I found a brand new unopened and out of production copy of Symphonie Fantastique and listened to it twice last night. This version of Symphonie Fantastique is simply fantastic

Great catch Steve! All my originals are the LM-1900 and this Classic Records stereo re-issue is IMHO very much more enjoyable than all my original monos.

I have been gradually updating my antiquated and somewhat obsolete equipment racks over the past one year. Those who have been following my posts here know that I have become enamored with the performance of Critical Mass Systems racks and have replaced my amp stands with 4 CMS Black Diamond stands and have also bought a brand new CMS rack for my turntable and phono stage. Well after saving my money for the past many months I have finally been able to complete the final piece of my rack puzzle by having Joe Lavrencik of CMS design a horizontal rack for all of my remaining components. I went with another Black Diamond shelf under my Studer as well as a Black Diamond under my Playback Designs. The other shelves will all be Black Platinum with 2 shelves for the turntable controller and air filtration unit to be Black Sapphire.

The system is now under construction and should be at my house by the time we arrive back from Hong Kong and Manila

Again a huge shout out to JackD201 for introducing me to Joe and his fabulous CMS racks

The other nice thing is that my turntable will now reside (as it should have to begin with ) at the other end of the equipment and farthest away from the speakers.

Congratulations, Steve. That all sounds quite ambitious. We will love to see photographs when it is all complete.

There is a current thread about the Herzan active isolation platform. As you know, Rockitman has one under his TechDas AF1. Have you considered such a device and/or discussed it with Joe at CMS? I wonder if it would provide additional benefit or might even be counterproductive with the CMS racks.

The more I look into this rack/isolation subject, the more custom or personal solutions I discover. There seem to be many different approaches to the problem. Interestingly, and quite surprisingly for me, an audio friend followed the advice of his amp designer and just removed the HRS amp stands from under his tube amps, and he prefers the sound without them.

I think there might be more than one road to Rome here and mine is certainly different. And different enough as well as being confident enough that I have no desire to try the Herzan. As well it would add more height to the rack and this doesn't bode well for a little guy like me :)

A big shout out in turn to Vlad who used CMS when nobody knew who they were. :) I'm 5 ft 10 inches and yes that Herzan would make that table awfully high for me. Mike is 6' 1''' and Christian an NBA 6'8". On the other hand it might be fun setting up VTA/SRA standing straight. LOL!

Manila should be a much better place by the time Steve land there.

over 63,000 drug pushers and users surrendered since the new president took over ?(three weeks)

a lot of people use meth. one of the priorities of the new president is to rid the country of drug problem, massive raids and a chance to turn around their lives was the main motivation, to some - to stay alive.

the authorities have recently burned 400 kgs of meth, with street value of PhP 1.7 billion.

Drug war was Duterte's campaign promise... he won decisively last May 9 and took office just last June 30. He promised to rid the country of drug and criminality problems before Steve Williams set foot in the country
