Entreq Tellus grounding

Well I'm late to the game.
Connected an Olympus Minimus to my Tron Syren Full Function Preamp today.
4 hours in = no change that I can hear

I borrowed an Olympus Minimus a few days ago. This replaced my Silver Minimus with server and router grounding duties.

The eartha cables used are the Apollo USB for my sonicTransporter and Challenger RJ45 for my Draytek router.

Within minutes of connecting I could tell something pretty profound had happened. Then on a very familiar piece of music I started hearing odd crackly sounds in the background, almost like recording artefacts. Seeing as I had never heard this I thought something was wrong with my speakers!

It's like I am getting a whole new level of detail. Put it this way I don't think the Olympus Minimus is leaving now!! I have already ordered an Apollo RJ45 to replace the Challenger RJ45. I previously used two Challenger cables and tried one Apollo first on the sonicTransporter, a decent improvement on the Silver Minimus but this Olympus Minimus takes things to an altogether new level. Outstanding.

Add an Atlantis Minimus to the OT , your grin will get even wider !!

I am indeed. Although it is plugged into an Isotek Polaris strip and kept far away from any of my dedicated audio mains circuits.

I am thinking about trying an iFi iPower power supply. I asked Andrew (at Small Green Computer) a few times about power supplies but he seemed adamant that they wouldn't make much difference...

I I tried connecting my Auraliti PK90 file player to a Silver Tellus with an Eartha Copper USB cable and I didn't hear any improvements.

I replaced the stock PSU with Auraliti's linear PSU, and it made an across the board improvement.

Yes. That is it :) I remember when I first listened to a CD I had burned from a high resolution master and it sounded more like an 18 bit version of the 24 bit master rather than the 16 bit version. It really was the first time when I could say to myself, "OK, CD is compromised relative to 24 bit and I would rather it was better but it is still rather decent!!". But as you can see from my earlier posts, the boxes have helped my "hi res" playback too. But like you, I suddenly could hear tiny details that made the music more tangible and as a result more involving and thus enjoyable.

If you heard a change within minutes, wait for about three or four days which - as seems to be the consensus of long term owners - that is when you really hit the sweet spot.

Yes indeed! It's sounding pretty spectacular now. I am looking forward to replacing the Challenger RJ45 with an Apollo soon too. It's on order!

Hi Guillaume
I appreciate what I am about to say is a off topic but after long term scepticism I tried a Phonosophie Gold 13A fuse on the new AU24SE power cable and it was so good that I managed to find some more with difficulty as they are out of production.
They are a really good buy and the sound is now so much cleaner, vocals much easier to understand and no loss of musicality.
I couldn't find any internal ones of the right value so have two Synergistic Research 0.5 amp Black internal fuses which seem to be the nearest equivalent on their way for my DCS Puccini/Scarlatti word clock and will report more later.
Despite all the Entreq grounding the new fuses have made a real improvement so IMHO worth trying if you have not already done so.

25 hours in:Analog only
Change did happen.
THE POSITIVES
Superb clarity in vocals.
Lower noise floor
Rock solid images
Stage depth deepened
THE NEGATIVES
High frequency somewhat rolled of
Stage width diminished
Bass notes dampened.
Mid bass became boomy
Low bass was lost .I think do to un controlled mid bass .
Simply stated the bass sound was not natural.
RESULT
After moving speakers several times and still not able to control the bass notes, I disconnected the Olympus Minimus.
The beautiful bass response I originally had with my Horning speakers returned.
I did lose the solid images and vocal clarity but I hear a more organic sound with the Olympus removed from my system.
I'm sure all the posters that have written about their outstanding experiences with the various Entreq ground boxes will understand that not every component will work well in every system.
Enjoy

Pulled the plug too early , the bass would have settled . Try give it it a 72 hrs run if possible . Cheers

Thanks for your report Goldeneraguy.
I agree with Jazzhead.
With some systems it does take longer to settle and if you can eliminate the negatives I'm sure the results would be very worthwhile.

Or perhaps more experimentation with the ground cables. Going from the silvers to the top of the line copper (or vice versa) will change the character of the bass noticeably amongst other things.

They say 'timIng is everything" and mine was limited.
As I mentioned image was superb.Clarity was outstanding.
The bass was completely off. This made continued listening something I just couldn't do.
Now I have to find something that can restore the image and clarity I no longer have.

That is disappointing and I am sure frustrating.
I hope you have it on a trial basis. If so it should be possible to try it with a different earth cable as suggested above. The different earth cables can make a substantial difference and I would encourage you to persevere whilst understanding the temptation to call it a day,
