Giant killer: The magnus ma-300

In emotional power. It has 2X the power and headroom. You have to understand, some North American distributors charge 50% to bring these items in. That is why I am trying to going mostly "built in the USA".

---- "Emotional power"; now that is serious power!
...From a power amplifier (electronic component)!

I know the 911 MK3, and i totally agree that many amps have more power and headroom than this; this is very promising; i will try it agains among others Lamm 1.2 references and Mark Levinson 501 and 502.

As for the MA-100, i learnt from Magnusaudio this was only a prototype and that they are launching a new pre in May.

-- Hi porselen, and Welcome! :b

And yes, please let us know your impressions on that new amp when you put it to test in your own system.

Bests,
Bob

Thanks for the Welcome!
Yes i will let you know my impressions when the unit is tuned into my system

-- Right on Paul!

...And I'm sure Jim too will have more to say on its new amp.
- BTW Jim, you should also share your impressions on your new modded Oppo 105,
in its dedicated thread. >>> I am waiting for you there. :b

I am curious of the size of caps and transformer as this unit reminds me of my old KSA 250 innerds?

The Modwright 105 really responds well to tube rolling.

It killed my $30K Burmester 911 MK3, in my system.

Cost is neither here not there with me, especially when it comes to amplification.

I've appreciated the sound of certain Burmester systems at times, other times they failed miserably considering expectations per cost.

That said, I'm very fond of their CD players.

I am not. I had the 089 for 1 year and had the 069 at my disposal. They are overly "misty" romantic in the upper midbass and HF, without enough slam and tight punch, in other words, not enough balls to the wall power. However, this was only in my system. So, it is only my opinion/experience, and I do have a very good system.

You might wanna fix the typo in your signature Jim ;)

---- Did you roll some already, Jim?

* Some girls are also responding well to 'tube rolling'. ;)

LOL, my GF thinks my tubes are "too big"... I am currently using a big old Philips nos 5R4GYS in the outboard power supply, and some big ass PSVAVE T Series MK2 CV181-T11 in my ModWright 105. Sounds heavenly!

US price is now $31500!

In Germany the price without German tax is €14500 - $18850.
Even with insurance and shipping this gives a very big profit.

909 Mk 5 US price $73500 !!
In Germany without tax - €31700 - $41210.

That is exactly why I sold my 911 Mk3 (which I bought from Germany). I do not believe in 40-50% import mark-ups, then market the gear as being as good as that inflated price, IMHO only. I am slowly buying all USA made gear, or if the gear is worthwhile, non greedy importers.

Recently Burmester gear retail has been amended. In Italy the present Burmester retail, almost same of Germany, of the above mentioned products is the following:

911 Mk3 € 20.600,00
909 Mk5 € 44.000,00

Rocco, I am sorry , even though I love your Burmester passion, I have found it is based on fool's gold, based on the price of admission, IMHO.
