Golden Gate DAC arrives.

They are VERY delicate creatures, so I dont blame him for doing manual pickup.

1) New EML 45 Mesh Globes confirmed for Balanced DACs
2) Ask for current list of compatible tube types for Balanced DACs. Wisnon mind asking for it as well when you have a chance?
3) George Lenz still not recommending Elrog for Big 7/GG. He says he thinks current on startup is ruining the filament faster than it should. I noted it recommended no more than 1.2A on startup, which is different than previous recommendations I heard of 2A. Obviously some are making it work. Supposedly they are working on more resilient version but no ETA

DSD512

George told me to use the 45/101d (not the 300b setting) setting for my Elrogs (300b) on my GG. he said that will work better.

I've been using that now for 3-4 weeks and no issues.

that advice came straight from the Elrog factory.

Doh. Better than telling me he was uncomfortable selling them to me for GG

"Audiophile Bill: DSD512"
Can you imagine the computing power needed for upsampling that with no issues? Phew!

How much processing power would be needed?
6th gen i7 quadcore with cuda graphics card are waiting for the challenge...
Is that impossible?

I know - the pain does not worth bear thinking about ;)

In all seriousness - I heard that dsd512 was worth it...

You'll have to ask Lampizator about that. As far as I know, they only support resolutions up to DSD 256.

Hello - please see Lampi website. That is why I posted this.

Loving the GG so far. Since still in burnin so no details thoughts on sound. I will say, there is something magical about DHT in output.

I have one of those on order nowimage.jpeg
Nah,....not the Tesla ;)

Ok, did not know this. However, the question is: does it make any sense musically speaking?
That is the $1million question!

Does upsampling to 512 on a Lampi improve the sound over 256? What is the GG sweetspot?
