My answer is yes. I know many other audiophiles who live with fairly modest systems. Some get a kick out of visiting other audiophiles with better systems. Vicarious living

i think more than one thing can be true at the same time.

Bonzo/Kedar is not really a "dollar" elitist at all. he likes gear at all price points. and hates gear at all price points. sure he has his biases and he is an elitist in his viewpoints......just not about dollars.

and if you look at the signature of member @Zeotrope his system is very spendy and even has field coil horns. so on the gear side it's elite.

so no evidence Kedar is going down the 'sour grapes' path.

I think one way you know when you're done is losing the compulsion to visit other systems and compare yours to theirs.
That's not to say I'm disinterested in other gear and sounds.
But underlying neuroses can lead to a constant comparison and coming home to be deflated by one's sound.
That's certainly been the case with me until very recently.
I'm absolutely confident I've currently achieved value added in my particular choices and direction, most critically by recent replacement of balanced power with audiophile breakers, that my comparing days are over, audiophile nervosa finally and fully banished.
It's a very good feeling indeed.
