I have a couple of questions regarding the Shunyata Typhon T30. Are you plugging the Riviera amps into it and then into the wall outlet? Based on your description of the wall outlets in the room, can I assume the power cord from the T30 to the wall is a conventional 20A, 3 prong plug? ThanksSo a very interesting thing happened to me today and it made me a big crazy for a few hours until I figured out with a little bit of luck.
I had the Typhon t30 plugged into an outlet that was not behind my equipment stand because that outlet had not been changed to the Shunyata outlets I am using in my sound rooms. They replaced that yesterday afternoon and today I moved the power cord over and turned the gear back and let it play for a few hours and after lunch I went into listen and work on it a little.
The systems sounded different and different as in worse not better. This made little sense since the extension cord can't be better than going direct with the Shunyata Sigma directly into the wall. The system was compressed and it harsh and it never sounds that way. At first I thought well maybe its just me today so I did some more work went over to the door locked it and turned off the lights in the front and the hallway. I walked into the sound room and the gear was off. I turned the switch on and it went on. Well we did not know that the outlet was a switched one and on the same circuit as my lights. I quickly removed that and went back to the previous hook up and viola !!
I'm not sure yet but I think this room is going to be better than the last one. It has higher ceilings even though its dropped and the shape is a bit different. Its was killing it this afternoon and I have a few tricks left in the bag that I haven't gotten to yet.
On another note the Riviera gear never ceases to amaze me and over the last few days I have listened to the big Gryphons/mono's and the Big VAC mono's and the D'agostino Relentless and Mono's and I am not trading what I have for any of those.
They are truly special and I've heard nothing yet that comes close.
there are a few ways to use the T30. Since I am a store and do change things around from time to time I am using it in a way that makes that possible but not the best method. Let me explain.I have a couple of questions regarding the Shunyata Typhon T30. Are you plugging the Riviera amps into it and then into the wall outlet? In short your saying the power to your rack was routed through a switch. And it sounded horrible. So a very interesting thing happened to me today and it made me a big crazy for a few hours until I figured out with a little bit of luck.

How do you insulate it against short circuits or ground faults using shrink tubing with adhesive inside to prevent corrosion? Or another way. I'd like to know how this is done in other countries. Thanks. In short your saying the power to your rack was routed through a switch. And it sounded horrible.
I had a client, also a dealer who had his power redone per my spec. The installer screwed up and cut a neutral too short and spliced it with a wire nut. A week later the electrician had to return and the client made him reconfigure the panel so the wire nut could be removed and the neutral routed direct to the neutral bar. He said the improvement was immediate and an order of magnitude. These are examples of why I say, one CB, one wire to one duplex. Even better, bring the romex wire up and out the wall, put a female IEC on the end and forgo the duplex and expensive power cord. It will sound better and save you thousands using plain old Romex. But, that is not NEC compliant.
If you have to splice or use a double duplex, it should be like this image. Of course you tape it when done.
You mean like this. This is a splice that is making a sort of direct wire from the box to a power strip. It would be even better to not break the wire and do as you suggest. Put tech flex over the wire and use a squeeze connector from a surface extension box.How do you insulate it against short circuits or ground faults using shrink tubing with adhesive inside to prevent corrosion? Ok..we use heatshrinking tube with glue 100% waterproof. In the past they use spezial wirewrap technic I don't know if it's legal to install flexible single-core wires in the piping system in the USA. It was permitted in older buildings to renew the cables in Germany. You mean like this. This is a splice that is making a sort of direct wire from the box to a power strip. My splice is no different than a wire nut when it comes to oxidation. I do use Caig G100 on all connections and splices. I will also wrap teflon plumbers tape first, then nylon tape. Or liquid tape first. Let it dry for a day, rhen wrap with nylon tape.
Spent a few hours today working on the system. Friday afternoons are quiet.
