Job 225

Really soundArgument? Really? You say, "at one point four business days passed with no contact from them". Then you go on to say, "let's give Goldmund/Job a chance to respond". I'm confused. Which is it? First you bash Goldmund, then you defend them. Look, no one is writing a letter then sending it on a boat to Europe and waiting for a return letter to travel back across the Atlantic. This is 2013. Emails are fast. For a company to wait FOUR business days to reply to you is inexcusable.

It's a small company and a new product. I got the original amp in no time. If I get the replacement this week, only three weeks will have elapsed since I placed the order. I'm not completely satisfied with my experience, but this is not as outrageous as many stories one hears about dealing with the small companies that operate in this unusual market segment.

If all else fails, you can always file a claim with Amazon.

Hi members, I am new here. I also bought one of those buzzing Job 225 amps. I am suppose to return the amp back by June 30, but I am really torn. It is one of the best AC amps that I have ever had in my home. What do I do?

You can always buy another one (or maybe wait till people start selling them as deffective for $700-800 on AgoN), and run them as monos.

Problem solved :)

BTW - I can now place an official offer to buy this POS amp from the company that doesn't answer emails same day.

I'm offering $800 for a buzzing piece in mint condition with OBM. And I think that you should seriosly consider this offer, since there may be soon a flood of those amps on a S/H market, making the sale next to impossible.

:)

Looks as though Goldmund's in trouble with this product. A half dozen people have had this problem.

Goldmund will have to acknowledge this problem. Otherwise, there will be a lot of very similar Amazon claims.

I hope no one else has to wait four days to hear from these guys and then gets the excuse that "the communication did not work properly."

My advice to all who are having the problem: (1) request a replacement through Amazon; (2) wait two business days; and (3) if you haven't heard anything in that time, file an Amazon claim. The more customers who are filing similar claims, the likelier we are to recover in the event that Goldmund doesn't resolve the situation.

(I'm no longer referring to JOB because JOB appears not to be a real company. It's Goldmund. The attached photo shows the bottom of my now-returned defective JOB amp. Note that it's labeled for "0V.")

And it is too bad, so sad. The amp's sound is a giant killer. It sounds better than the $9K Atsah Ncore amps.

If it indeed does sound better, then there is no need to worry. $3000 for a monoblock pair is still cheaper than $9000 for the Atsah Ncore amps.

You are right, but.....my speakers are $25K and if DC ever blew the drivers out, I am sure the speaker company nor Goldmund will ever replace those for free.

Check the DC offset of your preamp before connecting the amp then. This is not a rocket science.

I know where one used one is for $1200. He had the same issues. Maybe I can trade him something for it.

Do we now have seven people with this problem?

Yes, seven. But if Goldmund can solve this issue, I will buy another in a New York minute. But it does bother me that they did not respond to my message through Amazon in regards to this problem. I offered to keep it if they had a remedy. going back today.

Because Goldmund is a small company and appears to have approximately four employees who interact with customers, they seem to be slow to respond to email, either through their jobsys.com addresses or through the Amazon email system. If you haven't waited a couple business days already, I might give them a little time to get back to you.

Please tell us if they use the excuse that Amazon communications "did not work properly." This was their excuse for not replying to me for four business days.

If you send the amp back, make sure Goldmund pays for return shipping. (It did so in my case.) I haven't received tracking information for the replacement amplifier they're sending.

I sent an Amazon message two weeks ago and never heard back anything. Did you send the amp back overseas?

Wow, two weeks--I'd file a claim.

Yes, I sent it back. After I filed a claim, they started communicating immediately, saying that they had tried to send emails through Amazon, which, according to their account, had not "worked properly." They covered the cost of return shipping.

I received an email from Goldmund today. Here it is:

Thank you for your email and interest in our product,

I would like to inform you that in analogue system ground loop can be critical and in case you do not respect some conditions a hum can be present on the speaker. The schematics recommended by Job System is known as the "Star System" as used in top measurement laboratories.

In Star System only one central component (usually the pre-amplifier or in digital the acoustic processor) is connected to the building ground (through the AC line connection or directly to an earthing post) and all other unit of the system are not.

I suggest in your case to make some tests to reduce the hum:

1. Use a good coaxial cable for your wiring for sound quality, perfect shielding and speed of transfer.

2. Do not make a physical loop with the coaxial cables from your pre-amplifier to your amplifier, make them arrive at the amplifier input from the same way.

3. The units on the system must respect the Star System. Firstly I invite you to disconnect the amplifier from the preamplifer, put a short-circuit cap on each analog input and turn the amplifier on, the hum must be gone. Is it true than with high efficiency speaker you might be able to have some hiss which is totally normal.

4. Then put back the coaxial cable and power the amplifier with a cable without earth connection. The ground connection will be done through the ground of your coaxial cable and if you use a good coaxial quality the system will be totally shielded.

Be careful that this type of installation must be made and controlled by a qualified technician to provide the perfect safety and quality.

I also wanted to let you know that the noise that you can hear when you flipped the device can be the ferrite bead on the mosfet that moved or it might be that during the transport an internal part was damaged, expect the hum your amplifier works fine ?

Could you please let me know the result of your test, we will then be able to confirm if your unit has a problem and must be return for an exchange/repair.

Best regards

"power the amplifier with a cable without earth connection". I thought soundArgument tried this. Basically a cheater plug.
